I am a little in the fence on this one. Very traditional Thai food, it was tasty, but the Pad Thai was a little off. The green coconut curry was really good, small portions but tasty and left me wanting more. Service was very friendly, food was on point for heat and came out of the kitchen in a prompt manner.
I don’t know how another reviewer could state that they have large portions… This is crazy how small the portions are… Maybe it being takeout they know you won’t look into the container and by the time you get home it’s too late?? Anyways you might want to dine in and then you can at least complain to their face that they’re overcharging $20+ for something that can barely allow two people to have a serving. Good flavours but overpriced and deceptive pictures/ packaging.
Went for Dinner on a Sunday at around 7 pm, so my expectations were low to begin with however I did not expect it to be this bad. Initial entry to restaurant: Was not greeted even with a hello, rather the woman that approached us simply stared at us vacantly until I told her that it we would like to dine in 2 of us. She genuinely seemed surprised or annoyed we were asking to eat in the restaurant. She then sat us down at the table and gave us menus and then went back in the kitchen area for about 5 min before coming out again and taking our order. Since we were the only two people in the back, I found this wait time a bit excessive but while waiting I observed two skip the dishes employees arrive to pick up orders so I let it slide. Our order: 1 fish cake appetizer 1 beef spring rolls order 2 orders of soup -Tom Yam -Tom Kha I also ordered some green tea, a Pepsi and some water. Drinks took about another 5 minutes to come out and she forgot the Pepsi as well. The water had lemon in it which I did not want but I feel that might be a bit picky so I will not hold it against them. Green tea was actually quite nice so it wasn't all bad. Ok, now for a review of the food itself. Fish 'cakes' - Absolutely horrendous. They resembled tiny patty cakes that were very thin and looked like they were pan fried. However when I bit into it, the texture was very rubbery and I suspect they are simply frozen and then heated. They did taste like fish however...so...ya.. 0/5 Spring Rolls - The appearance of these rolls were satisfactory, however when I bit into it, there was hardly any meat and the taste was mediocre at best. I have had many spring rolls before and these were very underwhelming in flavor. 1/5 Tom Yam Soup - Ok to be fair I have never had this soup before, at any Thai restaurant so I really did not know what to expect. It was described as having, mushrooms, tomatoes, bamboo, beef slices in a hot/sour broth. Sounds pretty good right? -It was absolutely awful and I would rather drink dish detergent than order this soup again. The broth was similar to drinking pure vinegar and it was so acidic it was burning my mouth. It was torturous trying to finish the soup and I left it largely untouched. 0/5 Tom Kha - This soup was slightly better but the broth, despite having some sort of coconut milk added to dilute the searing acidity of the vinegar, was still horrible and not an enjoyable experience. - The vegetables looked like they came from a can and the amount of chicken in the soup was a joke. I understand that times might be tight for restaurant's and they want to minimize food costs/maximize profits, however if you continue to serve this way with inflated prices you are surely headed for closure. 1/5 Service - I did not have much expectations for service after the initial lukewarm greeting and it continually disappointed. - I then informed her that the I did not enjoy the soup and she did not even ask why but simply responded with, "I guess you do not like Thai food". Really???? Absolutely arrogant and if this type of customer service is typical at this location then I suspect that many patrons will leave here largely unsatisfied. My guess is that a lot of the orders from this restaurant are from take out so I suspect that in-service dining is secondary which should not be the case. I think this is a backwards mentality and that people actually coming to dine in your establishment should be given priority. 0/5 Ambiance This was the one highlight of the visit, I found the tiny restaurant to be quite cozy and welcoming and the Thai music they had playing in the background was also quite nice. It had a slightly rundown feel to it, as the menus were very old, sometimes just hard written and the seats were ripped and taped up, however it appeared to be clean and I do not have a lot of complaints about the actual venue itself. 3/5
Easily one of the best Thai places we’ve tried in the Edmonton area. Will be ordering again. The beef spring rolls are the best I’ve had.
Awesome food!! Ordered a late birthday din din [ 8:00 pm ] and 20 mins later tada! Easy and friendly pickup. Best Red Currie in town. Yum!!
Large portions, prices were really good considering how authentic the dishes are. Really great dine in experience.
I’ve been coming here for years and it is consistently so good. I’ve tried other places, but I still think this is the best Thai in sherwood park.
The server was really nice and we tried this place on a groupon so the pricing was good for us. The restaurant was quite small for seating and you can tell it is run by a family or close friends. Servers were nice and tried to come by as much as they can to ask us about food and fill water. Flavors and food were decent and portioning was decent. Overall, if I was in the area it would be a good contender for food.
I had a hair cut next door and it was late when I got out and I seen this tai restaurant so I went in and ordered take out. I placed my order and asked if I could get a beer while I waited and was told they haven't renewed their liquor license. I paid $52 plus a $5 tip. when I got home I was appalled at the small amount of food in each tray as they were not even half full and the soup was a small cup worth. The food tasted disgusting and for $22 a dish for half the amount I would get anywhere else, I recommend you spend your money elsewhere. I would never come here again. This is the first review I have ever written
Really cheap on the amount of meat you get with each dish. The price is equal to a high end Thai restaurant without the high end part. Pad Thai was decent but better in the food court at the mall. Probably won't go back.
