Haven’t had Royal Oak in over 15 years. I used to enjoy it. We ordered Royal Oak today for lunch, which I had my wife pick up on her way home from work. We ordered 2 of the number 5 combo plates. This has been the ABSOLUTE worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. The chicken balls were shrivelled up, and the chicken fried rice was dry and hard. The bean sprouts seemed to be the freshest thing in the plate. The shrimp batter seemed dry, almost as if it wasn’t fresh, and just reheated. We are wondering if because we ordered on a slow Sunday, did we get busy Saturday nights left overs? Totally unimpressed with the food, and after tasting each item in the plate, I snapped the lid back on and walked away from the table, because it wasn’t good enough to enjoy. Total waste of money. A forever lost customer.
The lady on the phone was really nice, but unfortunately the chef needs some practice. I ordered chop suey and chow mein, which was $30. The variety of vegetables was nice, but very little seasoning and the vegetables were under cooked. Some more time in the wok would do wonders
Ordered food the other day for delivery, and the lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful, as it was my first time ordering. The food was delivered fairly quickly and it was delicious. It was my first time ordering here and I will definitely come back again! I highly recommend the general Tao chicken and Cantonese chow mein! Dietary restrictions: They are very accommodating on your requests!
I used to like this restaurant. My mom used to live in Orillia 4 years ago and we frequently ate at this place. But when I came back and tried the food, it's just not the same anymore. Chowmien has too much sauce and a little bland, shanghai noodles are too salty, other chicken with rice tasted like few days old. Broccoli tasted fresh and was nicely cooked. Their poutine was so bad. It was packed and busy with the locals on a Sunday night but most of the other restaurants downtown are already closed so I am not sure if they are there coz they want to or they just didn't have lots of option. We were supposed to go have fish and chips but was already closed so we ended up here. Should have driven a little more. The smell of the restaurant isn't appetizing too. Smells like a very old place, almost moldy.
Food was not fresh...it wasn't very good..the breaded shrimp was so small it was hard to tell what your were eating and the chow mein was soft and hardly eat able..Food: 1/5
Just ordered take away. Once again they shorted us on our order. Ordered online, should be zero confusion. Print out of order states it all. Maybe a game they play, hoping you don't notice or perhaps you are willing to overlook. Food costs are high. Restaurants should recognize that people are trying to support them. Please get it right. Appoint an expediter to verify order as its packed up for pickup/ delivery.
Good food and friendly staff. The dumplings were really nice.
Food was so bad. Bought two egg rolls. All that was in them was a few grey brown bean sprouts that I could not even chew.
Cantonese Chow Mein had lots of meats & vegetables and was nice and saucy. Was hot when it arrived. Would give 5 's if the delivery fee wasn't so outrageous!!!
We initially chose this restaurant because of the great reviews. And here's ours. We've only ever done takeout, but it's always tasted great & stayed hot the whole drive home. We live 25 mins away, there are other Chinese restaurants closer to where we live, but we choose here for a reason. The ladies who work front of house have always been so pleasant with me & I can tell they always appreciate me choosing them for our dinner plans.
