The board game choices are excellent and I heard they have more stashed away for lack of shelf space. It would be cool to have a menu of the board games posted on the wall somewhere both alphabetically or by category, though I know this is on the website. The place is spotlessly clean and airy, not your normal dungeon-like gamespace. I love the chill atmosphere though it was a bit chilly as the fall weather is cooling off.
We love this place! The board games they have are unique and challenging. The owner will help you find a game to your group's interest level, too. It's an inexpensive place to try new games and have fun. So many games to choose from, so there is always something different to try each time we visit.
A friend and I had a great time here! There's a large selection of games to play - more than you can play in a lifetime. The owner was really helpful in selecting some games for us to try. I wish there was more variety of food but the food they do have is really good nonetheless. Too bad there's not a separate space for large groups as it got pretty loud when one came in. Oh well, still a great place to play games!
This place is super neat. I came here on Valentine's Day with my wife to play some board games and drink some good booze. They had a good selection of alcohol, including mead, which is fun. They have a huge selection of board games as well. You could play a different one every time you come here; or even two. Can be hard for very large groups to be seated, unless there was previous discussion about needs. There were several larger groups playing Pathfinder, and it seemed like a fine setup. Anyway, I'll be coming back, and in greater numbers.
I'm glad Boise has this! Comfortable, well-lit space with food and drink options, friendly staff, and a very good selection of lots of board games in all different styles. It's easy to just keep playing all day at this place. Extra note: Another reviewer mentioned background noise - they had music playing when we were there, and it was good to have that atmosphere. It stopped at one point and it went from "casual hangout with friends" to "library" pretty quickly, but they turned it back on. Owners: I definitely recommend keeping that feature : Extra note to the extra note: We had visited a board game shop in Bend that had a similar gaming cafe feature Modern Games, and they were playing 80's hits that day. Sounds lame, but everyone there was having a good time and singing along quietly while they played. It helped make people feel at ease - a great thing when you're trying to get into new games.
If you're into board games, this place is great! They serve sandwiches, appetizers, beer, wine, soda, coffee, and a little more than that. It really is a great place to explore new games. In terms of family-friendly vibe, I think it's great for kids 8+. Younger than 8 and it's going to depend on the maturity level of the kid because they could easily get bored and want to move on. Staff is friendly and helpful, and patrons seem to be cordial, even helpful as well! Critiques: - Desperately needs some background noise. We were there for a few hours, even alone at one point, and it awkwardly quiet. Some background, low-tempo electronic would be great think SomaFM Groove Salad. I'm sure you can get some non-licensed, creative commons music in there if you're worried about licensing. - Sandwiches could use a little more color in their presentation, and a little more flavor. - I'm not a fan of the single leg bases on the four person table. They easily tip, which isn't great for board games. Critiques aside, I definitely plan on returning!
Great family friendly place to come play board games or other tabletop games as well as get a sandwhich and have a beer or beverage! They have a huge game selection that even has some hard to find titles! and fantastic staff who are there to help you learn a game or even just help with setup! 10/10 would recommend!
Loved my first visit! Went as part of a group that rented out the entire place for the night. Played an awesome Sherlock Holmes board game that I had never heard of before, and a quick round of Fluxx, and really enjoyed the food and drink I ordered! The selection of games is incredible, there's truly something for everyone. Definitely coming back again and soon!
An amazing board game collection with great food and staff. Played some good games and had some good drinks
Drove all the way out here because Google Maps said it was "Open until 11:30pm", the place is completely empty and full of construction equipment. Also, someone wrote a 5-star review describing the place as "Great atmosphere" and such as if they had been there, when they clearly have not. It is unfortunate that the owners have posted "open" hours but it is either permanently closed or has no E.T.A. for opening. Suggested edit on maps to remove location from Google Maps.
