Established in 1937 by the late Dr. Alan Secord, Secord is one of the oldest small animal hospitals in Toronto.

Story

We are devoted to nurturing the human-animal bond by exceeding the expectations of our clients. In order to strengthen and sustain long-term relationships our dedicated healthcare team practices the highest and most innovative standards of veterinary medicine. We consider it a privilege to care for your pet.

We are proud to mention that since 1938, Secord has been an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), being the longest standing continuously AAHA accredited Animal Hospital in Canada. We follow AAHA's high standards of excellence regarding quality medical care, facility maintenance, continuing education and striving to meet the needs of our patients.

Mission

Social Media Usage Policy

The Ontario Veterinary Group (OVG) hosts a number of social media channels to promote its goals and objectives and to disseminate animal health information through the community it serves.

OVG recognizes that the goals of social networking are best served through a free exchange of thoughts and ideas, even if they are critical of OVG and our work.

OVG also recognizes that use of its social media channels is a privilege and not a right and that it has a responsibility to ensure that these channels are not used to spread false information, abuse or other malicious content.

OVG is required to follow the guidelines and policies mandated by The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO). These guidelines and policies contain practice parameters and standards regarding the care of patients and the practice of veterinary medicine.

This policy clarifies what is acceptable and unacceptable use of OVG social media channels.

Acceptable Use:

1. Animal stories
2. Pet “tips”,
3. Opinions about OVG, its services and policies, including criticism.
4. Comments or actions that fall within the guidelines and policies mandated by the CVO.

Unacceptable Use:

OVG will respond to the following content:
1. Incorrect or misleading information about OVG, its services and/or policies.
2. Incorrect or misleading information about animal health and/or welfare.
3. Incorrect or misleading information about the OVG partners, veterinarians, and/or support staff.
4. Comments or actions that fall outside the guidelines and policies mandated by the CVO.

The following content may not be acceptable and may be removed:
1. Where OVG has attempted to correct misinformation about the above and has been unsuccessful due to repeated and or belligerent posting of the misinformation.
2. Specific complaints about OVG its services and policies where the writer demonstrates that he or she does not wish to seek a resolution.
3. Rants.
4. Information or links to external content that has not been reviewed by OVG.

The following content is not acceptable and will be removed:
1. Racist, sexist and homophobic language.
2. Overtly sexual content.
3. Threatening or abusive language.
4. Malicious content.
5. Personal or confidential information.
6. For-profit content or content posted for personal gain.
7. Comment or actions that fall outside the guidelines and policies mandated by the CVO.

Repeated writing of content in contravention of this policy may result in the removal of the privileges of the writer/s from some or all of OVG’s social media channels.
