Thoroughly disappointed with this restaurant. Our server was very kind and the decorations were nice, but the food was mediocre at best. For such an expensive restaurant, you would expect quality food, but it was greasy and the egg sauce is gross. The only dish I'd say was worth it was the chocolate lava cake, which was after the hibachi experience of course. Would not recommend.
This is my favorite restaurant!! The food is beyond delicious and the location is beautiful. The chefs are incredibly friendly. Fast service and accommodating to any special needs. The egg yolk sauce is the best ever! The meat and lobster tail is so good and the best I’ve ever had at a Japanese steakhouse. It’s pricey but a good value for your $$&&
I've been here a few times. The food is amazing and delicious! The lobster tail with egg sauce is a must! No complaints and definitely coming back! The beef fried rice is worth the money!Food: 5/5
Unfortunately it was a very expensive terrible experience! Ordered the shogun which is steak and lobster receive my lobster after everyone was finished eating the chef apparently forgot that I was supposed to get t steak as well so by the time he came around everyone was finished eating dinner and he wanted to make me my steak which wasn’t going to happen so I talk to the manager who proceeded to take $10 off of my bill so from $82 I went from $72 for a lobster tail. Everything was greasy the rice look like dirty rice with the ground beef in it . I don’t even know where the ground beef came from. Beef fried rice is NOT ground beef the that comes. We had no show no light up the grill. I don’t care but I really think that our chef was not Asian I believe he was Mexican which is not a bad thing but when I go to Ron of Japan I’m expecting a show I’m expecting a great experience I could’ve gone to any Japanese restaurant and receive the same experience. Way overpriced for the food it’s not that good at all! Save yourself some time and money and go somewhere better. Terrible experience! If I could’ve given it no stars I would’ve! Anywhere is better than the here! I forgot to mention don’t put your feet under the table my husbands shoes have grease spots on his shoes! They are ruined! This place cost us way tooooo much tonight! The shoes were the last straw!
Service has gone down significantly since we had visited the year before. Food was excellent but portions were significantly less and they messed up our order in the process as well. The chef didn’t do any “tricks” or anything fun not even the fireball, he barely communicated with the table or even looked up to acknowledge us. There was a language barrier between us and the chef so when we asked to get our correct order it took a while to explain the error. We need only saw the server twice and our whole table was constantly looking for her for refills/drinks. I wouldn’t recommend going to this restaurant.
I've been twice---I heard it used to be way better a few years ago. I was under the impression this is a *really* nice hibachi restaurant. Both times, the food was greasier-than-average---especially the egg sauce. It left us feeling sluggish, achey, and gross. Chefs were good and knowledgeable, but sloppy. The first time, we were overcharged with items we did not purchase. The manager was unavailable and we couldn't get a hold by phone either. Interior is beautiful. Bathrooms were alright. Overall, 3/5. The food itself really was not bad, just greasy / not to my expectations. I'd go to a different hibachi place, as this one left us feeling somewhat disappointed and unwell both times.
Please do not believe the negative reviews. This place has been a staple in my family for well over 20 years. My folks used to go here before they got married. Truly the best Hibachi restaurant in the greater Chicagoland. Never disappointed, excellent flavor EXACTLY the same way it was years ago. Sure other places may be cheaper, but honestly and believe me I have tried so many other places I keep going back to Ron. Hands down favorite. Salad is always fresh. Unique dressing I have not been able to find at any other Hibachi restaurant. Soup is delicious. Veggies cooked perfectly. Huge portions. Egg sauce is superb. Other restaurants give you less food. Don't change anything you guys rock. Will be coming for many years to come with my family.
I called at 5:45 to ask for a reservation tonight for two people. They told me that they only took reservations for parties of four or more. They also said that we could do a walk in. So, at around 8:00, we went to the restaurant. There was a line of people waiting for the hostess to return. We had to wait because the hostess was giving people coats. We told her that we were doing a walk in and explained what happened on the phone. She said that it was 8:06 in a rude tone. Then she said that they stopped giving reservations at 8:00. It would’ve been nice if someone told us that prior to this. This wasn’t a great experience and we didn’t even get to try the food. We ended up going to Friends Sushi instead which was four minute walk from Ron of Japan. Totally recommend that. Anyway it worked in the end, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Super fun and good food. Egg sauce was interesting. Everything was a bit greasy but a bit of that sort of chow from time to time is OK. No sushi cook so that was on menu but not available. Sure they will straighten that out when they find the right hire.Food: 4/5
I've been coming here for most of my life, since at least 1982. It was by far the best Japanese steakhouse I've been to. However, something happened in the last 10 years or so that really changed everything. It's still good but it's no longer "to die for".Food: 3/5
