Story

Just 91 miles North of Minneapolis, there has never been a better time to bring your friends and family to Lake Mille Lacs for a few days of fishing, great food and relaxation.

Rocky Reef Resort is a family-owned, full-season resort located on the Southwest shore of Lake Mille Lacs with Cottage-Style Cabin Rentals, RV Park Campground Sites for rent or purchase and a well maintained Boat Launch. All our cabins and RV sites have beautiful lake views with kitchenettes, cozy living spaces, separate bedrooms & bathrooms. Enjoy our Bar and Grill just steps away for a juicy, hand-made burger and cold beer or cocktail.

Rocky Reef Resort is located just feet from the Lake Mille Lacs shoreline and just 91 miles North of Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota, our Lake is approximately 207 square miles, 18 miles wide and 20 miles long. Known as the "Walleye Capitol of the World", it also offers a great Bass, Jumbo Perch, Tullibee, Giant Muskies, Northern Pike and much more.

If I could rate a 0 star I would. Probably the rudest people alive. The owner, all the way down to the employees are horrible people. The fishing is nothing to brag about there. Every time I’ve gone with friends and family not my choice we’ve never caught a thing. Whenever I talk or try to communicate with anyone there, they try to make me feel like less than a person. So if you want to enjoy fishing with friends or family I would defiantly would recommend going somewhere else!!
Terrible people!!!they are down right dangerous on the ice... mentally equipped to on ice making roads..be careful all who go from this resort!

To be fair to the owners, we can only rate Cabin #3. We did not eat in the restaurant or drink at the bar. We rented cabin #3 for two nights and left after the first night. We did not ask for a refund but feel it necessary to let anyone not familiar with these fishing cabins, know what to expect. At best, this was a $60/night cabin. We were charged $275, for the two nights. From the outside, they're cute and the view is truly stunning. We have stayed in many very simple fishing cabins and do not expect 5 star accommodations, HOWEVER, we do expect cleanliness and prefer to have everything to be in working order, especially at that price. Cobwebs big enough to trap hummingbirds, hairs on the stove that didn't work, sticky goo on cabinet doors so thick my hand stuck to it, refrigerator making a loud banging sound every time the compressor would kick on, leftover hairs and other grossness in the shower were the main things that made us check out early. We made the best of it the first night since we had just drove 11 hours to get there...it was shelter with a bed to sleep in. That is all.
Saw they are attempting to flooding another resorts road. Not a good business practice
We always enjoy stopping in at the Rocky Reef Patty the owner is a very professional helpful great personality person. We also enjoyed the food And drinks it’s a fun place highly recommend it. And by the way the kitchen was rated the top restaurants in Minnesota for cleanliness. The food is always fresh and delicious.
We went to use the ice roads on mille lacs through rocky reef. When we left the road was blown over from the wind and we couldn't get out. Jr promptly plowed the road after we called him so we may leave. When I tried to give him a couple bucks for the prompt service he refused and stated its his job. That was the first time anyone refused to take a tip for plowing. We will be back and we will be bringing plenty of people with. Thanks again jr.
Great burgers kinda expensive but great
Ice road layouts are a joke. If they say plenty of spots don’t take their word. Make em plow you a spot out where YOU want. Also we had to pay for a road pass just to park a car on land for 1 night and they wouldn’t plow the car out because it was waked in by a plow. I was told “they have a shovel” we won’t be returning back. Go to Randy’s…
Stayed in an ice house for a couple nights and had a great time. Owners are awesome people and took good care of us. Everything was clean and the ice house was comfortable. Had a delicious burger at their bar. Caught some fish and a nice walleye, and overall we have nothing but excellent things to say about this place- 10/10.
