I like everything about the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The recently remoded gift shop and entrance is very nice. If you have last minute Christmas shopping to do go visit the gift shop. If you want a gift that will last all year long consider becoming a member. Giving memberships to friends and family is also a great way to keep the program going.
Great place to learn more about the animals in the area. My daughter loved learning about all the different animals through their interactive screen. An added bonus she really loved were the antler hats, stickers and temporary tattoo they give the kiddos.
We were a party of 7 with my 3 younger granddaughters. We all loved the exhibits and the waking path. Read the plaques under the mounts, absolutely fascinating. Being 15 - 20yds from a male elk with a bow must be an experience of a lifetime.
The Montana Elk Foundation continues to support the torture of animals, theft of pets and violation of fair-chase standards by providing funds and lobbying for trappers who represent a tiny fraction of the population. Their good work to preserve elk habitat is stained by catering to those who think torturing animals for profit and “fun” is a good thing.
Wonderful place to check out while you're in the area! Besides being an important conservation group, the RMEF has a great visitor center that anyone can enjoy. They routinely have events for kids and families, which are always highly organized and professional. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are always clean and beautiful. Besides visiting, I'd also encourage you to look at becoming a member.
Well worth a visit. The only thing missing are live elk. The displays are very well done. Just about any question you have about elk can be answered here.
Happy to see they are open again. Always on my agenda with family and visitors. New looks too.
Great museum with very interesting elk mounts. Very informative, a great stop while traveling and a can’t miss if you over night in Missoula!
What an amazing place to visit, these guys have everything. A must stop on your tour of Western Montana.
We stopped here on our way to Yellowstone and it was worth the 30 minutes we spent walking around. Was neat to hear more about elk habitat and preservation in this area of the world. We were actually blown away by how massive and nice this museum is. Clearly run by some well-funded Hunters.
