Story

The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is a 43000sqft multi-use cultural facility on 1.5acre of land directly on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill's downtown core, at the corner of Yonge and Wright Streets.HistoryThe Town of Richmond Hill Council approved the site of the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts at the former site of the old Town Hall in September 2003. The centre was designed by Jack Diamond and his firm Diamond and Schmitt Architects. The 30 million dollar construction project was the largest ever undertaken by the town. The centre integrated the fully restored Richmond Hill High School (circa 1897), which houses the Centre's administrative offices and a commercial space (Covernotes Tea and Coffee House)The Centre is to host: Main Auditorium, seating 631 guests, the largest seating capacity of any theatre in York Region. The 150-seat Rehearsal Hall with a flexible configuration for interactive presentations, dinner theatre, award ceremonies and corporate events. Lobby Galleries to display an array of visual arts. Outdoor Piazza perfect to exhibit large-scale art and to bring productions and presentations in the open air (alfresco). Multi-purpose rooms for meetings, classrooms etc. Restored Heritage Building which will house the Centre’s administrative offices on the second floor while future commercial and/or retail spaces are being considered for the ground level. In addition, the theatre is the largest of its kind in York Region with a full hydraulic orchestra pit.

Great place! Very 'Theater' look. Came here for a spoken word poet- Very entertaining. The seats were nice a comfortable though the leg room was tight- I'm only 5'5. Seats were already picked and staff are very nice, ask them to show you your seats if it's your first time. As a first timer here, the overall experience was enjoyable. Hope you find this review helpful and enjoy your show!

Went there with my son by the school for Curious George theater. Pretty good place. There was a little bit of weight and kids were not patient. But overall it was good

This theatre has a modern look to it, and has a variety of shows. Each new season brings new talent, as well as popular classics. Ticket pricing is as one would expect depending on the show, but sometimes you can find a really good steal for what they offer. They also offer a membership and show bundles. The prices at the bar are average and the coat check is reasonable in price. The staff is typically helpful, and my experience was generally positive. I'd suggest looking into other shows the theatre offers, as many of the shows held here are not in the program.

This is my second time visiting this facility for the Richmond Hill Board of Trade events and love the conference room as it is separate from the rest of the facility, which provides a quiet place to hold meetings. A HUGE thank you to the audio gentleman who got me up and running today for my presentation, great customer service and very pleasant.

Nice theatre, went here for numerous concerts, variety shows, and even for film screening. Nice and comfortable seats, with nice and perfect sound system. However, limited parking space in the parking lot, need to park on street if the event is huge. 4 stars!
