Restaurant La Traite

An extremely expensive disaster. Thanks god there was bread... the menu was extremely complicated and far from authentic. Plates are extremely small (which is usually fine for good restaurants) but disgusting : overcooked, too much salt, too sweet, too much Worcestershire (sorry, what ?!), etc. Plus, the restaurant was half empty but the waiters were overwhelmed, extremely stress and inattentive, which could be excused if they were not rude and brutal. There sometimes too loud music (good, though...) and suddenly nothing. A disgusting, overpriced, night. It always makes me so sad to see laces like that where they steal tourists for an unrespected reason.

Wonderful, we had their Christmas Brunch and it was wonderful, so much variety and all done perfectly.

Amazing restaurant! Their buffet offers a great variety of food, excellent quality food and all sorts of treats (even French decadent Maracons!) One of the best culinary experiences I ever had! The building itself is gorgeous with a fire place in the middle, with wolf skins and Native American art.

Now, I must admit that I am not one for exotic foods, but the experience I had here was simply horrid. If you have low expectations, lower them. So, I opened the menu and the first word I read was 'Kangaroo'. I held back a gag and continued to read, only to discover that the menu was full of strange items, and pricey too. I ended up ordering deer, which I ended up regretting, but in all honesty I think that it was the item on the menu I would've regretted ordering the least. The meat had a strand taste, but the sauce it lay in was the worst. It was as if it was devoid of taste, robbing flavor from the well smelling deer rib. For dessert, I had a cheesecake. In my personal opinion, you cannot go wrong with cheesecake, but this one came quite close. The cake looked and tasted like it was the burnt crust of a cheesecake I baked at home, and since I'm a terrible cook, that says enough. The atmosphere was terrible. The speakers echoed the sounds of native tribes instead of playing soothing, decent music. It was also cold outside and the furnishing was lacking. Though our waiter didn't speak much English, he was a great guy and did his best to help us out. Prices were far too high. I can imagine that they had to import the various weird meats and sauces, but the taste just simply didn't match up to the pricepoint. Portions were small and left me hungry. I'm currently munching on a chocolate bar to keep the hunger at bay. Overall terrible restaurant. Perhaps it would be received a higher score of our total for four persons wasn't almost 400$. It could've been avoided if we'd gone with a course menu, but who the hell would want 3-6 courses of this disgusting food? Overall 1.8/10
