Friendly and welcoming service. Quickly seated. Everything was delicious. Nice presentation. With my wife being from Tokyo, passes the “authentic” test. With the weather being a bit warm, didn’t have the appetite to try some of the side dishes.nnRecommend with enthusiasm.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos!nnAh yes, my favourite type of noodles, is Japanese style Ramen and I think Toronto can agree with me with a plethora of options to choose from in this city. My #1 top spot to get a fix of these addicting noods combines the rich and fatty pork bone broth with the indulgent, slightly sweet aromas of the black garlic that permeate through every pore in your body resulting in a broth that is chugged until not a single drop remained, a decision made despite its possible health consequences. The chashu is not to be overlooked either, with a smoky char and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.nnThere's also seating for those in queue, which comes in handy when this place is packed during meal times.
We heard great things about Ramen Isshin so we decided to come downtown and give them a try. We came at around 6pm on a Saturday so it was pretty full but we got seated right away. The servers were all friendly and attentive. We asked for recommendations as we have little ones so we don’t want anything too spicy. The takoyaki and gyoza came first and they were delicious! Then the ramen came and WOW, the soup base was unbelievably tasty and the ramen portion was very generous to say the least. We would definitely come back again and try other options
My ramen was overwhelmed with bean sprouts, which dominated both the flavor and texture. Inside the restaurant was extremely loud and somewhat chaotic, making it difficult for my partner and me to hear each other, but it was certainly an experience.
A very popular spot, we visited during the 10th Anniversary Event and waited an hour and a half. By the time we were seated, the complimentary sake had run out. Feeling festive, we opted for the Hot Plum Ginger Wine, a warm and sweet drink. Our appetizer, Takoyaki, contained ample octopus nestled in a soft dough. The Roasted Garlic Shoyu impressed with its garlic flavor and a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg. The Black Sesame Tan Tan Noodles were decent, though I found the black sesame flavor overpowering. Both bowls had al dente noodles. While the broths were flavorful, they were on the salty side. Due to the event, we only had an hour to dine, but this wasn't an issue as the food came out quickly. Lastly, we also won some Japanese snacks as part of their event.
