Today I tried the spicy red miso ramen at Isshin Ramen. As with most ramen locations, no condiments were on the table. With that being said, I was certainly surprised when I took my first taste of the soup broth.nnThe soup was very tasty and thick. I could taste the quality and attention to detail in the subtle flavours of the broth.nnThe ramen came with bean sprouts, carrots, onions, wood ear mushroom, and chives that were wok fried plus a good amount of green onion slices. Lastly two slices of cha shu pork.nnThe spice level of the soup could have been hotter for me but still enjoyable. I would say the level was light to medium in heat.nnThe wavy noodles were chewy and picked up the taste of the soup very well. I will certainly be back to try other ramen dishes in the future.nnThis ramen shop has a great selection of appetizers like tako wasabi and age tofu to name two.nnOverall, great ramen and an excellent selection of dishes to choose from.nWell worth the visit.
We started with the chicken karaage. It had a nice thin crispy skin. The inside was very juicy. Just wish they gave more than just simple Kewpie as the dip. A garlic dip would have been nice!nnThe Red Dragon was very flavorful. It reminded me of Chinese flavors with the spices. It was savory and packed a nice punch. My favorite was the garlic roasted shoyu. The broth was beautifully creamy and rich. The Cha shu melted in your mouth. The noodles had a great chew and bounce to them.nnService was quick and friendly.nnIt's not my favorite ramen spot on College, but it was still very good!
The restaurant wasn't busy when we were there around 12:30pm on a Sunday. We ordered 4 different kinds of ramen and an order of cream croquettes. The croquettes were very hot but the filling was a little runny. Out of the 4 ramen bowls, the black sesame tan tan was the best. The tomato soup in a stone bowl dip noodles was just alright. The other 2 were not bad. Service was good.
The wait ended and we finally dined in at Ramen Isshin, College St location. Vegan and Vegetarian options at a classic ramen bar style resto is a great offering. The staff is very friendly and patient with you orders and very helpful too helping with dietary requirements. We like our vegetario Miso and Garlic ramen bowls with a special mention to the burnt garlic shoyu. A friend accompanying us tried the chicken starter and the ramen bowl and was pretty impressed. Service was pretty quick. Prices are on the expensive side given the quantity. Decent experience if you one is craving for vegetarian warm comfort noodle bowls
Authentic Japanese ramen spot in Toronto. We tried the Roasted Garlic Shoyu and Spicy White Sesame Shio—both broths were rich and flavorful, and the ramen egg was perfect. Noodles had great texture too. Compared to Afuri, this place definitely wins on taste. Only downside: the broth got a bit heavy near the end. Still, a solid ramen experience and worth the visit!
