My favourite ramen place for taste, consistency, affordability. I’ve tried both the ramen, gyoza, donburi for pork and vegan. Both ramen options are delicious, I prefer thick noodle and like now everything is customizable and you can request kaedama. Both gyozas are fresh and flavourful too. I think their donburis are just okay, but not worse than other local Japanese restaurants, have yet to find a good one in Vancouver. I didn’t like the vegan soy chashu, but that’s personal preference. They also had vegan soft boiled eggs, but I stick with their tofu.nnI also like their rewards program, which you can add to your Apple Wallet. Just remind them to scan it when you pay. The price is hard to beat and I actually prefer how quick their service is, especially how they don’t feel like they need to keep bothering you because you’ll devour your delicious food very quickly!nnI wouldn’t say it’s high on the accessibility scale because it is a tight space, but if you can get a spot right beside the door it is possible.
Voted best ramen in Vancouver for a good reason! Delicious, flavourful broth that is highly customizable regarding the type of noodles, thickness of broth, toppings, and spice levels. Gyoza was also very good. Service was very fast and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy but slightly cramped. Worth the hour wait to get in, highly recommend!
While the ramen itself was decent, the overall experience left much to be desired!nnAfter signing up to reserve a table for three, I received a message indicating that my table was nearly ready, only to find out upon arrival that it was not the case. Disappointed, my friends and I ended up waiting outside for about 30 minutes.nnOnce inside, we were already frustrated and on top my order was incorrect. However, the server was gracious enough to rectify the mistake promptly. Additionally, our dining experience was further marred by the overwhelming noise emanating from the kitchen—a constant barrage of blender noises made it nearly impossible to converse comfortably!!!nnWhile I won't deny the tastiness of the food, it simply wasn't worth the time and hassle.
I am not a food critic, but I do enjoy my ramen. My recent visit to Ramen Danbo in Kitsilano was a mixed experience. While the classic ramen I tried was decent, it didn’t quite match up to some of the best I’ve had elsewhere.nnOne standout feature of Ramen Danbo is the ability to customize your ramen to your liking. You can choose the thickness, richness, and chewiness of the noodles, which I found to be a great option. With more visits, I might have been able to build my perfect bowl of ramen. Unfortunately, I was only there once, and it will be a while before I return. As it stands, the ramen I had was just okay.nnOn the positive side, the wait time was impressively short, and the staff was wonderful. They were friendly and efficient, and they didn’t make any fuss about us bringing our 8-pound puppy along, which was much appreciated.nnOverall, while my experience at Ramen Danbo had its highlights, the ramen itself didn’t leave a lasting impression. Nonetheless, the excellent service and customizable options make it worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Good ramen but not sure I'd wait almost an hour again next time. My friend and I put our name in around 1:30pm on a Saturday and were told to expect at least 75 minutes. We ended up getting a table around an hour later. It's nice they have the text system so it gives you a chance to walk around 4th Avenue.nnI had the negi-goma ramen and added a soft boiled egg. My friend is gluten free and got the classic ramen with the vegan soup and gluten free noodles. She told me ramen danbo is the only ramen place in the city that she's been able to order gluten free noodles. Surpringly the ramen took a while to be served. Not sure if they had to make the vegan broth or get the GF noodles. My broth was really good and had a good sesame flavour. Noodles were good texture, unfortunately they forgot my egg. But I noticed a server and they brought one out on the side quickly. The egg was cooked perfectly and the yolk was nice and jammy.nnI enjoyed it overall and would go again to try the classic ramen.
