Heard good things about them, so we went there for a late night dinner. We arrived around 830 and only had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. They'll text you.nnHas to be the best udon noodles in Toronto! The texture is the right balance of chew and firmness. Broth w as just right and plenty of beef in the gyunan! The chicken karaage was crunchy and definitely better with the soup than without. Gyoza was okay but needed some more salt and crunch I think. Shishito tempura was perfect!nnService was excellent from the front desk to the server. I dropped my chopstick and less than a second after, someone already has a new one for me lol. Interior is cozy and minimalist. Very traditional feel.
Overall, a very good experience. The waiters were friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. The appetisers were excellent. We ordered three different ones and all of them were great. I highly recommend the agedashi tofu, it was especially delicious.nnThe yuzu soda was also very refreshing and delicious, a perfect drink to pair with the food.nnThe main dish was slightly disappointing for me. The udon noodles were a bit too chewy for my personal taste, although my partner really enjoyed them, so this may depend on individual preference.nnAt the end of the meal, we were served frozen grapes, which was a very creative and refreshing touch. Overall, I would definitely come back to try another main dish.
Honestly, I found the food a little overhyped - maybe our expectations were just too high going in.nI had the tempura soup udon: the noodles were decent and the tempura was good. I did appreciate that they served the tempura separately so it didn’t get soggy. However, I found the broth a bit on the salty side. The mousse dessert was delicious. The karaage was pretty average, maybe a bit plain.nnWe did have to wait about 30min for 2 people, but we were able to just walk around and get a text when the table was ready. Our server was friendly and efficient, and took the time to explain the menu since it was our first visit, which we really appreciated.
Good udon but it’s overpriced and not worth the 30 min wait. If you come with a party of 2 or more after 5:30pm you’ll probably have to wait 30-60min, and they don’t take reservations. They have space for 1 person parties though.nnKani ankake udon 7/10: the crab was extremely salty, and I’ve had better udon for a fraction of the price. I wouldn’t wait here to eat, especially because it’s a very small space no standing or sitting space to wait and having to wait outside in the wintertime is especially painfulnnI’d really appreciate if they started taking reservations, and I’d only eat here again if that was the case
We have a decent experience in Raku. The space is quite small but very crowded so I would recommend to come early so you don’t need to wait in line. The service and hygiene of the place was perfect. The staffs are really nice and frequently check on us. The food is good, a little salty for me, but I love the bowl and the visual appealing. The price is average high. The atmosphere is chill, calm and makes me feel like I’m eating in Japan.
