I am not sure how this place got such high scores from other reviews as it is overall terrible. We ordered 2 dishes: the grilled lemongrass chicken with shredded pork on rice and the special beef noodle soup. For the grilled lemongrass pork with shredded pork, as pictured below, the amount of protein we got was comically small. The chicken was also very thin, meaning it's going to be overall dry when grilled and blandly seasoned. The shredded pork and rice was average compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. For $15.50 at the of this review, it is priced higher than most other Vietnamese restaurants for significantly lower quality. The special beef noodle only contained sliced beef, beef balls and 2 pieces of tripe, as pictured below. This was a takeout order and the noodles and soup were combined in my own bowl. It did not contain any beef brisket that was indicated on the menu. The beef balls were also split into thirds instead of the usual halves to further cheap out on ingredients this is also pictured below. The soup was a bit weak on flavour but acceptable. The noodles themselves are likely commercially purchased as were similar to those found in other Vietnamese restaurants. Overall, the special beef noodle soup is not as laughably bad as the first dish, but still overpriced for $15.00 at the time of this review. In summary, as both dishes follow the theme of skimping out on ingredients, it's not likely it's a one off thing. I am seriously not sure how it managed to get 5-star scores from other reviewers; maybe it was better in the past or they have just never eaten at any other Vietnamese restaurants. I don't think there is a single Vietnamese restaurant in London that is worse than this one so I would suggest going to any of the other ones in London.
I can’t say enough how much I’ve missed this place. I’ve been going for almost 20 years I think, but moving out of town has hampered my visits! I started off with the fresh shrimp spring roll and then I got my old standby…. #416 Spicy beef noodle soup extra spicy ! The owner hasn’t changed a bit and greeted me like an old friend. I guarantee it won’t be long before we return!
Friend recommended this place. I ordered spicy beef pad Thai and shrimp roll, tasted mediocre. They charged $1 for wrapping up the leftover to go. Paid about $35 after taxes and tips. Service was next to none. No extra plates for sharing the appetizer, no condiments at the table. Bottom line: won’t go again
This is a small cozy restaurant. We ordered Chicken Pho soup. It was delicious and reminded me of my friend's mother's soup. She was Cambodian. We also order their Wraps with peanut sauce which was great! A definite place to stop for a nice hot dinner. Saturday: We just ate there again. My Sister and I ordered dinner for two. Chicken rolls2, Sweet and sour shrimp soup for 2, and chicken hot pot with stir-fried vegs. It was the first time my Sister had sweet and sour soup. We both remarked on how well it was to clear our sinuses. The total was 58 dollars and some change. Well worth the drive from Windsor to London!
Order a beef pho #402. Broth was tasty but the portion was quite small, with little beef literally only 3 very small slices. After tax and tip spent $19 and was still hungry enough afterwards to get McDonald's still, generally with Vietnamese restaurants I am struggling to finish my servings or have some left overs. Agree with other reviews in that the meal itself was tasty enough however the portion for the price is definitely not worth it. Significantly better value can be found elsewhere in town.
One of my favorite london places to eat. Comforting to say the least. We have been regularly eating there for decades. The Pad Thai is so good, this is the only place I order it.Recommended dishesSpring Rolls
Pho was fine, but the portion was quite small, with little beef. There is one size only for $16.50, and I left hungry. Owners should evaluate their price and portion with comparables. Significantly better value can be found elsewhere in town.
Best mango salad anywhere! And the fresh rolls are phenomenal
Great if you're sick!!! I got the spicy beef noodle pho and it really helped. Very tasty, perfect amount of spice and good portions. : Keep up the great work!
Worst Vietnamese food I’ve ever had not only that some of the worst cheapest rip off food in general I’ve ever had. the portion size was absolutely ridiculously small amount of protein shameful. As for the vegetable 99% bean sprouts, and the sauce they give you to pour over, your dnot even 1/10 filled I have one of those little plastic sauce containers with the see-through lid I would say maybe .15 of an ounce. I got pad viet the noodles were awful. It’s not just that they were completely plain they were just not cooked properly. They had no flavour and we’re stuck together to the point it was like eating a slab of sticky glue. And the sauce they give you to put on it may be covered 1/100 of the amount you needed. The chicken in the dish was so thin and so dry when you tried to stab it with a fork it would just crumble in half and had no flavour at all. I was for the vegetables in the dish there was two tiny, baby bok choy, three slivers of celery, and I mean slivers there is no chive no shallots and like five or six tiny little bean sprouts. It was absolutely horrible. Next was the caramelized chicken with lemon grass and spicy red pepper. Basically what I got was burnt and dehydrated chicken on a bed of terrible rice absolutely zero lemon grass no spicy red pepper and a tiny portion of bean sprouts with one single piece of broccoli and a few little slivers of shredded carrot. How do you leave out the ingredients that are literally in the name of the bloody dish. Next coconut curry chicken with lemon grass, spices and taro root. The portion size was the size of a small soup, and one of those plastic see-through containers with the lid that you would maybe pay five dollars for there was a little bit of chicken in it, one tiny piece of taro root, and they actually gave me a decent size container of white rice, however watery flavourless and appeared to be made with Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup, mixed with curry powder. Also, the chicken was incredibly slimy and I eat curry from every country all the time. It is literally my favourite dish and I love all curry even bad, homemade recipe white people curry that my mom made, which is soup mix and curry powder, and this tasted somehow similar yet worse , no flavour of lemon grass. I have honestly never been so disappointed and felt so ripped off in my entire life and I order in food pretty much every other day and I’ve been ripped off before and I’ve had some bad food before but this is literally the worst food I have ever had nachos the worst Vietnamese food. The worst food I have ever had. I have never felt so taken advantage of and ripped off in my entire life, the quality the quantity, the just plain lack of ingredients that were literally in the title of the dish. Just shameful. Do not eat here even if the occasional person doesn’t get the right food or a quality dish someone working here is not doing their job phoning it in and you’re going to take a gamble the next person that gets food like this is you.
