Well, the queen of Elizabeth Theatre is probably one of the west well established theatres in all Vancouver is extremely beautiful. It is classic. It has marble floors. It has easy access. It has wheelchair access. It has the ability for all different levels. You have of course your concession where you can go to the bar have a selection of wines have a selection of different snacks . There is a coat check in. The coat check-in takes cash as for the bar and concession area is that is all by debit and credit card only no cash and now this is a place where you’d wanna dress for the Theatre. This is a place where you wanna dress up and have fun and be somebody different and I’m really thankful that this special occasion which was a graduation of Argyle, which was my niece that everyone did for us accordingly and I was really pleased now as for the downside absolutely unprofessional you had all these people coming in. They had to open up the doors at 6 PM, which was fine. They opened it up at 6:01 PM but then they made everybody wait for almost an hour outside of the doors to the main feature to the Orchestra to the upper level to The the chairs that we’re waiting to be seated by us. We waited an hour. These are elderly people they cannot stand for an hour, especially when you have to go and wait on stairs. You have to wait halfway up an aisle ramp. You have to have limited seating outside for people to sit. It was ridiculous. Now I think that this was absolutely unprofessional not well handled it all get your act together realize that when you open the doors from the street that you actually for 15 minutes, you can have people wait outside of the main doors, but then be able to open the doors and let everybody go and sit. I think there was absolutely no reason for anyone to have to stand there for an hour because you should’ve had it together. You said it opened at six you said it started at 7 PM so then that way you should’ve had people at each of the doors all of the ushers holding the doors open and letting everybody to walk in freely as it was festival seating it was festival seating was it even like assigned seating so very unprofessional completely disgusted by this and I really hope that they understand and get their act together and let people to come back in quickly, not to make elderly people stand for such a long time that was almost an hour standing in the most awkward places, so not pleased whatsoever other than that everything else went according to plan you can also catch a cab or an Uber right outside of the main entrances, there is no in an out visit once you’re in the theatre you’re in the Theatre
Queen Elizabeth Theatre turned out to be the perfect venue for a show like David Byrne’s—artistic, immersive, and incredibly well suited to the space.nnI was pleasantly surprised by my seat. Ticketmaster made it seem less ideal than it actually was, but once you’re in the theatre, the layout makes way more sense and the sightlines are excellent.nnThe acoustics were outstanding—crisp, balanced, and really let the performance shine. Overall, it feels like there aren’t many bad seats in the house. A great venue that absolutely elevated the experience.
QET is a welcoming open space with a medium sized theater that makes the concerts and performances that you attend here approachable. The space has interesting chandeliers and a warm view.nnI enjoyed the Rishab Sharma concert.nnNitpick: the lighting during the concert was harsh and intrusive.
Beautiful venue and a great experience overall. The BC Ballet performance was fantastic - talented dancers, great atmosphere, and a really enjoyable evening.nnMy only small complaint is the wine selection at the bar. For a theatre experience like this, it would be nice to see a few better options instead of the fairly basic lineup.
Last night I got home and saw on social media that Atsuko was performing in Vancouver. It was only an hour before the show and online tickets were already sold out. I immediately called the Queen Elizabeth Theatre box office for help and they managed to get me a ticket! The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, as they always are.
