Was looking for something different and even though I’ve had middle eastern, I have not had Iraqi food specifically. Was not disappointed at all. Had the Iraqi kabob platter and Mousel kibbeh. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the tastes were familiar but different at the same time. The staff was absolutely friendly and a joy to converse with. I can see why this restaurant was highly rated. It may not be fanciest but I come for the heart of the food, not shininess of the floors. Absolutely make an effort to try a unique cuisine that is here.
So happy to have happened upon this place! Visiting Windsor as the nephew is attending university in the fall. We were looking for a breakfast spot before leaving the city. Most places were already super busy with lines. Luckily we decided to venture just a little further down the street and discovered this gem! From the outside we weren’t sure what to expect but decided to give a try none the less. Honestly, one of the better breakfasts I have had in a long time! Be prepared to wait a little extra, as everything is prepared fresh but absolutely worth that extra little bit of time for a lovely meal. Didn’t get pictures of the breakfast menu but they have the standards and some specialties to boot. The hollandaise for the eggs Benny is homemade and made to order! This is where that little extra time comes in but is so totally worth it. Fresh ingredients, attentive staff and lovely owners make this my go to spot for future visits to Windsor. The prices here are also crazy reasonable! As I looked over the menu, wishing I could order lunch as well, the prices here are even on the cheaper side in comparison to other places of similar cuisine. Overall our experience here was wonderful and I look forward to bringing the rest of my family here for a dinner experience in the fall. A hard working family that deserves a try if you appreciate great food and good people. My only suggestion is that if you are a large party or are in a rush, maybe a call ahead to give them a heads up but like I say, totally worth your while regardless!
Truely an experience. Everything was amazing, the 5 star reviews aren’t lyingFood: 5/5
Awesome awesome food and lovely staff. Surely will visit againFood: 5/5
This is a great little family restaurant that I would highly recommend. I didn’t have time to take more pictures because the food was so delicious. The owners are very friendly and the food portions are certainly with the price.Food: 5/5
Amazing Iraqi food. Our dishes were beautifully plated and delicious to eat. We found Queen Ashtar because of the internet hype, but would return solely for the tasty cooking.
Great place, awesome staff, and the food is just like back home. Will come back for sure.Food: 5/5
It’s a family owned restaurant… the food is really good however the Iraqi kebab was a bit salty… generous… food portion is really good… Salad is also served with the meal… it’s a very quiet place and also very suitable for families … prices are reasonable for a downtown restaurant … the gentleman offered me tea after lunch… the restaurant worth a try … I’ll definitely go back there. They are very friendly.
Read about this restaurant in google reviews. But nothing special was found here. Had lentil soup which was the best dish I had here. I ordered Iraqi kebob. It was so so. Not the best kebob nor the the worst one I had. Nice and friendly staff. Got free baklava and tea in the end.Food: 3/5
The staffs are great. There is an old man who is pretty friendly. But the food was not actually delicious. We ordered Chicken biryani, Iraqi kabob and lentil soup. But unfortunately the only good part was the start, the soup. The rest were cold and not fresh at all and toooo spicy, which was unexpected. Maybe that wasn't our lucky day. But I'm pretty sure that we won't try it again and wouldn't recommend at all.
