This park has everything you need to camp. Tent lots, camper lots, a beach, playgrounds, trails, a lake,, a drop off for small boats, a disc golf course, and much more. The camp grounds are the usual. We brought our baby and family. They had a blast. The lot next to us brought 3 dogs that barked everytime a person went by. They were the only bad part of the trip. This place is awesome. As for the disc golf course. It is a little more technical. There are a lot of tight holes, almost all holes. There are three pads per hole. We played the full 18. It is a fun course. There is some variation in elevation, so the course doesn't play flat the whole time. It is a beautiful course. The only thing that can be improved are the signs.. The signage is a little misleading. Some lead you astray and some tree have like 6 signs pointing all over the place. Remember, there are three pads per hole so finding your pad is sometimes difficult. This course is very fun. Do give yourself enough time to play. This is a bigger course and there is a par 5. Exciting right? I recommend this course to intermediate players and up.
This is a really nice, smaller, quiet state park and lodge. We felt welcomed in every part of the park and the manor house. The staff was incredibly warm and friendly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is that they are very short staffed right now in the manor house and so some cleaning details were missed, cobwebs various places indoors and the soap dispensers in the bathrooms looked like they had missed a few cleans. They are also in the process of renovating the guest rooms, so I can imagine that everything will be back up to top shape in the next few months. While we were there we played disc golf, enjoyed the pool, enjoyed the evening on the patio, hiked near the lake, went canoeing and visited the nature center. Be aware that canoes and kayaks are available to rent at the campground as the marina has closed.
My first time going here and I enjoyed riding through the area. I walked down towards the beach area. I know it is lovely once the warm weather comes in. There were a couple of people there sitting in cars since it's still cold here in early May. I can't wait to come back to explore even more.
Very nice park with water and electric hook ups. Lots of activities and hiking. Bathrooms are clean. Some sites are a bit narrow if you have a class A motorhome.
Spent Father’s Day with the family having a cookout , doing some fishing and just quality time with my wife & kids . Always a good time- and yes this is my second review from this great State park .
Easter brunch with multiple delicious choices-- carved prime rib, ham, lamb, and tilapia with homemade mashed potatoes and lemon rice, carrots, green beans. Delicious roasted red pepper gnocchi.Salad bar with a variety also, and shrimp. Desert selection of 4 different cakes/pies. Quality food and exceptional service. Full bar available, and reservations book quickly. They accommodate groups. There was even a Easter Bunny for photos!
Gorgeous State Park in Ohio. It was a little confusing trying to find the boardwalk on the lake marsh. I didn't really see any visible signs from the parking lot advising, otherwise I would have given five stars. Great view all around. When we were there, it was supposed to be one-way on the boardwalk, but no one was following that. Cabins look nice, but I can't speak on them. There was also some construction going on at the manor and the parking lot area outskirts were lined with trash.
Camped here while visiting Cuyahoga Valley. The primitive campsites were perfect though up a short hill. That meant you were more separated from all of the other campsites. The board walk on the lake was a nice stroll. The old Tudor lodge was beautiful though more interesting on the outside than the inside.
I recently visited Punderson State Park to do some hiking. While I enjoyed my time here, the trails were not quite as well groomed as they are in the Lake Metroparks. The park has a large Lodge with hotel rooms, a swimming pool, and restaurant. There are also quite a few cabins available for rent. In the cabin area there is a trail that leads to a floating boardwalk that goes for a pretty good distance along the edge of the lake and ends behind Punderson Manor. While the floating boardwalk was scenic, the floating boardwalk sections actually do move and sway somewhat when you are walking on them which I can't say I really enjoyed, especially since there are no handrails on either side of the floating boardwalk sections. Punderson is a nice place to visit for the many activities offered. There were some small boats out on the lake doing some fishing and I did see that there was an archery range in one section of the park. I was there on a weekday in the late morning and the park was fairly empty. The next time I visit I plan on doing some hiking followed by a meal in the manor house restaurant.
Great place to kayak, camp, relax. Grounds, bathrooms & shower facilities are all kept clean. Friendly family atmosphere.
