Pret a Manger

Great place for grab and go food. Sandwiches are amazing!!

We loved the food at Pret A Manger when we visited London and New York. So, we made a point of visiting this pop-up store for our favour bacon and eggs sandwich. Last month, we tried the Pret pop-up on Marine Dr. and it was very good. Today, we were disappointed with two things: the bread was dry and 'soggy'. As well, a proper Pret location is typically a good place to have a rest away from the noisy streets of London or New York while catching a bite to eat. The ambience at a normal Pret is quite a bit different than an A&W. There's usually pictures of organic produce on the wall, the lighting is comfortable, and the music soothing. This A&W was playing some upbeat and noisy music that makes you just want to get out of there instead of stay and enjoy your lunch. We observed that all the patrons who stayed purchased cooked A&W food. Those who picked up Pret sandwiches did not stay and eat them – except us. This was not an enjoyable Pret experience and we doubt if we would return to this location. We hope that the Alberni location will be a better place to grab a Pret Sandwich.

located inside an A&W restaurant. Although it may not have the same standalone feel as its London counterparts, the quality of the food offerings are still noteworthy.

I haven't tried it in Canada yet, but have eaten at several in Europe. I personally like their grab-and-go items. Coffee is decent too.Food: 4/5
