Excellent hotel. Nice, new, clean. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Backs on to train tracks, but with quad pane windows closed, you can barely hear them and they don't seem to run between 11pm and 8am. Or if they did, we didn't hear them. Would definitely recommend this hotel for Cranbrook stay.
I hosted a prom and dance for nearly 100 pdinnereople. We were treated to a delectable buffet that took special care for dietary needs of our guests. Jorrie, the service staff and the Chef!!! THE CHEF!!!! Absolutely DELECTABLE!nnWorking with Tracey was not only extremely professional, but she is a PLEASURE of a human being. She's respectable, funny, kind and was willing to hear out every idea i had and make it happen to her very best ability!! I really will miss working with her on this project!nnJust a HUGE thank you to a successful evening and a VERY smooth planning!!!!!
First room smelled strongly of smoke. Staff were understanding and moved us. Room was advertised as a 5 person room. I asked if they provided a cot and the answer was “3 kids can fit in a queen”. That would be fine if the air conditioner worked. We sweated through 30 degrees overnight in uncomfortable beds.
We stayed in the Santa Fe rail car, and it was absolutely fantastic! The attention to detail was exquisite. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom had a heated floor. From the cowskin rug on the floor to the velvet chairs and Tiffany lamps, it all felt very opulent. There is not a fan in the bathroom, so if you use the bathtub, expect your train car to get a little steamy. The staff, Melvin and Amanda in particular, really went above and beyond. It was my husband's birthday, and a small gift basket was provided for him. We would book this again for a special occasion.nnOur second night was in a queen spa room. The bed was good but not as soft as in the train car, and the soaker tub was wonderful. The front of the hotel is noisy from the street traffic and in the back of the hotel is noisy from the train traffic. However, if you're staying in the train car, it adds to the experience.
It's definitely a 3-star hotel, but it's pretty good at that rank. Bed sheets and pillows are pretty decent, couches aren't great. Expect tiny plastic cups and no napkins, but you can request real glass from the front desk. No complaints but I'd say the prestige at Rossland and Nelson are both much nicer overall. Front desk was helpful and polite, it's probably the best option for business travel in Cranbrook.
