Big delicious portions, scattered ambiance and one big lounge with no privacy. I went there for lunch on a regular weekday. I didn't have a reservation, but was able to find a place to sit without any problems. Portage Bay Cafe does one thing deliciously: FOOD! The club sandwich was large, served with a very nice aromatic green salad. I appreciated the fact that everything was organic and grass-fed. Portage Bay Cafe offers what looked like their own sauces (hot/spicy, green with a nice flavor but do not remember what it was, and sriracha). I would encourage everyone to try each of their sauces - they may go well with the sandwich or whatever else you decide to order. The service was quick and courteous. Though, it was apparent that servers were few and far in between. They were extremely busy attending multiple tables, but they took the time to re-fill waters and other drinks. The service was not very personalized, which was fine for a quick lunch. The place itself is very big. If you are expecting private or intimate conversations, this is not your go-to place. It's fairly loud and spacious. Overall, a nice place to get a casual lunch with your friend, colleague or by yourself.

Good food--salmon hash was gluten-free and tasty the DIY waffle toppings bar looked great--but the service was almost non-existent. It was somewhat understandable since it was a Sunday morning but at 9am, the place was only about 2/3 full, much less than the lines of people hanging around the entrance when we left. I had to ask the hostess two separate times for almond milk for my coffee after waiting 20 minutes for our server to bring it. The coffee was still pretty good even though I never got to drink it while it was still warm even after a refill. The restaurant is extremely loud too--we could hardly hear our friends across the table over all of the other conversations. Maybe they could look into some noise-dampening options so future visitors have a better experience...also, I got two slivers in my hands from the table--it's definitely time to sand and refinish those!

It can crowded on weekends and can look disorganized, but that doesn't mean the food quality drops at all. Most dishes are good. Omelettes and french toast are my family's favorites. Kids love this place as well. The fruit bar is "free" with most orders and it is great. Decent black coffee and good fresh juices. Highly recommend to anyone contemplating brunch in the Seattle area, local or visitors.

Great staff. Pork Loin and peppered bacon are a keeper. Good Swedish pancakes. The fruit and stuff bar is great if you love to load up on fruit and sugary whip cream.. Only downsides are it's noisy like a cafeteria. Cell service is sketchy.

Orange juice good. Service okay. Biscuits and gravy were room temp when they came out. Eggs not prepared as requested (over hard, the easiest way to make eggs). Crab smelled way fishy and was maybe one leg's worth if I'm generous. Not worth the money. Not recommended.
