Had a speeding ticket, first one since 2009. The police lady was super nice and friendly. I didn't dispute I was speeding so I accepted the ticket. The staff and police officers seemed nice and the judge at the courthouse. But the demerits taken off your license for a first offense in BC since we've lived here since 2010, with no accidents as well is not fair. And paying a $120 dollars for the ticket when you are permanently physically disabled and over 56 is ridiculous as I don't make enough money. The judge was nice but she only took $20 off the full ticket. I am below poverty level. If you get a lot of tickets or speed regularly I can understand why the fine and demerits deducted would be so severe. I think your driving record should be taken into account to be fair. I was also very pleasant to all so it wasn't an attitude thing. An ICBC thing maybe? Hoping leniency is given according to your driving record, and experience as well as having no accidents when being in front of a judge will start to count. Especially when I have a great driving record
This is a nice facility- my film class needed to film outside the court's and staff were respectful and non-intimidating.
Courthouse is nice building washrooms good neighborhood decent but too many H.A.'s 4 I counted, Hightops said hi, in the courthouse. My beef is my residence was sold to pay a court order the plaintiff was given his money by the court as was his lawyer but my share of the money is still being held I asked a number of times to get my money as soon as the shattered and broken whining crybaby shunned by all bar habitual got his and his fat immigrant lawyer it was only after the other two parties were given their money was I told I had to apply to get my money so why did the judges not tell me this earlier? Also why not give me the required paperwork to file when I am at the courthouse I had to sign a bunch of other paper work. What do you expect I guess from a system designed by lawyers who make their living practicing law? Other ppl have mentioned the huge delays on court days the only thing me and the judges and the fat, immigrant lawyer agreed on was the huge delays and all the judges had horror stories on time delays. I almost high fived the smiling fat, immigrant lawyer who has a legal gag order on me and a legal restraining order when we got out of court early on a sunny day.
I won a claim against a defendant, but the court has enabled the defendant to keep stalling payment. She defies court orders to bring in financials so that a payment plan can be determined. In the meantime, she has voluntarily disolved her company now. I understand that they want to give defendants every possible chance, but in the meantime, they are supporting defendants at the victim's cost.
I was terrified to come here, especially because of the bad reviews. Was getting really bad anxiety, first offence speeding, expected the worst. Reality = everyone was really nice! Officer made deals with everyone prior, judge female was sympathetic to all and gave minimum payments
