Short-listed a few wineries & restaurants along Naramata Bench for hubby to choose & he chose this one based on the beautiful architectural design. Booked a table for lunch on the website & was offered a table by the window with breathtaking view. Our server was super-busy, but he made it up with extremely warm service & good recommendation on food. The house-made pasta he recommended was one of the best we’ve eaten. Slight criticism was the washroom could be cleaned more often, & no one was wearing masks any more.
Some of the best wine in the region and literally the best burger in Canada all overlooking a spectacular view. Daniel, our sommelier wine tasting host has forgotten more about wine than most will ever know. Super informative. Always really happy with the accommodating staff and experience at popular grove.
We loved their Syrah before visiting... now we love it. Cab Franc and Syrah are amazing. The location and decor is unreal but what was the highlight of the visit was the food. Full of flavours and well balance... The tartar and the parmesan appetizers are a most. Un incontournable, if you are in the area.
Lovely location and without a reservation they were able to accommodate us. Nice to see they have both a Tesla and non-Tesla charging station. I can't speak to their food. Diane was the person conducting the wine tasting with us. She did a very good job. My one criticism is the 10.00 charge per person to taste their wines. As this is our first visit, I can't speak to whether this has always been the case with this winery. Please note, this FEE IS NOT WAIVED and I gather this may actually become the norm in the area. If this fee is going to be distributed to the staff, I don't have an issue but I suspect this is not the case as they also had a tipping option when we purchased a bottle of wine. Hmm. I think if all the wineries implement and are not distributing the fees collected to their respective staff, it smacks of opportunism and gouging. Please correct me if I'm wrong and if this is the case, then why the tipping option?
We went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food was so good. We may have only had the hamburger but it was a flavor explosion with the combination of bacon and cheese and sauce. Yum. The chef knew how to put it together. And the view was spectacular. I'd go again and recommend it. Oh and the wine, lovely with lunch and we bought more to take home
My wife and I had great dinner here. The weather was great and the patio that have has a breathtaking view. The service was on point and the food was of a quality and presentation appropriate for its price. When we make our way back out to Naramata, we will definately make a dinner reservation for Poplar Grove.
Saved the best for last on our winery route on Sunday. Beautiful sunset, amazing tasting and what an awesome sommelier we had. Thank you for the Villa Rosa recommendation for dinner - it went with our wine PERFECTLY :
The restaurant ambiance and views are fantastic. The food is okay for the price. We ordered the burrata starter which looked great, but the toast was burnt. Every bite tasted burnt and a friend who went previously said the same thing. The server only offered us a piece of barely warmed toast when we mentioned the issue. One of our mains, the lamb dip, also had burnt buns. So burnt, that we started to scrape off the burnt parts. The manager saw and gave us a new sandwich, but again, the bread was barely toasted. There was no in between. I’d recommend not ordering dishes that have bread.
Beautiful view and delicious wine. We had lunch and a glass of wine on the patio. Good was excellent also. Unfortunately they were to busy to give us a wine tasting. My only tip for them would be to add a flight of wine to the menu so those that can’t get a tasting could try some wines. I would have loved to bring a few more bottles home with me if I could have tasted them. I did grab a bottle of Pinot Gris as I had a glass with my food. Cheers and thank you for a lovely experience.
Had an absolutely amazing experience at the Poplar Grove. I called ahead to let them know I was proposing to my girlfriend and they were extremely accommodating in setting up a wonderful table and view. The food was amazing we had the duck and the beef and it was extremely well paired with the side items. Our server Frasier was wonderful after I proposed and brought over champagne and dessert to celebrate. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an elegant dining experience in the Penticton area, and we look forward to visiting again next time we're in the area.
