If I could give a zero I would! I have banked with PNC for over 30 year when it was still National City. In January my daughter had fraud on her account joint with me that accounted for $1,545 being taken out. We called immediately when we discovered it and PNC’s loss prevention also reached out to us although my daughter was at work so she could not take the call. Once I filed a dispute I received a letter stating that PNC denied fraud as they claimed it was customer verified which it was not. When I asked for the documentation of how they verified the transaction they would not share, even though it is legally my right to see what they used to verify the puchases. I offered multiple forms of documentation to prove that it was not verified and was fraud, but PNC refused to look at it or give me a way to share it with them. After almost 3 months and over 12 hours of phone conversations and 2 visits to 2 different PNC Banks, I was told yes I had a right to that documentation but no one could find a person from PNC to give it to me. I didn’t know what else to do so I filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Bureau on a Sunday. I heard from PNC less than 24 hours later. I was refunded the money less that 24 hours after that. When I asked the PNC representative for the documents from PNC they showed how the fraudulent transactions were verified, I was told there weren’t any! What a sham of an excuse for a bank. Clearly they do not care about their customers and they are not following the laws to protect their customers. We are now moving all of our 9 accounts somewhere else!
I’ve been depositing cash into my 82-year-old father’s PNC account for years so he can pay his mortgage. Today, at the Medina branch, the teller suddenly demanded my ID to make a cash deposit. I understand banks have AML policies, but PNC has never asked me for ID for a straight cash deposit before.nnI asked to see the policy— the teller said she’d show me, then stepped away to whisper with the branch manager. The manager returned and said it’s a new policy but couldn’t show it. That contradiction and the way it was handled felt dismissive and disrespectful.nnFor context: I have seven PNC accounts personal, retirement, and business. After today, I’ll be closing them and moving to a bank that balances compliance with clear communication and respect. I’ve already received information on Caregiver Banking from Huntington, and Westfield Bank has consistently shown up for the Medina community in ways I haven’t seen from PNC.nnIf PNC’s policy truly changed, post it, train staff to explain it consistently, and treat customers with courtesy. That’s the minimum I expect after years of banking with you. Good riddance. Hire or Train your humans better or teach them how to have a care factor.
Terrible customer service. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a business that I trust to hold my money. I was unable to complete a deposit with my ID present and name on the account. Totally insane.
I was in back on March 8th. I totally meant to write this sooner. I came in on a Saturday without thinking to make an appointment. I needed something notarized. Cynthia D. greeted me and was very inviting. She seemed thrilled to help me and notarized the document. Not only that, she answered questions I didn’t know I had yet. 5 stars isn’t near enough for the rockstar customer service Cynthia provided. Thank you, Cynthia!
Terrible customer service. I'm a loyal PNC customer. I went in there today to get a notary for a patriot act form for a safety deposit box at another bank. I was told we don't notarize other bank forms. All this is a document that just needs to verify my signature. I reached out to PNC corporate and even they told me they don't see anything in their criteria that would cause them not to notarize this document they just did not want to do their job!!
