Story

Planned Parenthood Toronto is a fully accredited community health centre that provides primary and sexual health care services to youth between the ages of 13 and 29. PPT also offers health promotion programming, education, training, and research to improve the health and well-being of Toronto’s diverse communities. All PPT services are offered within a pro-choice, inclusive, youth-friendly, non-judgmental environment.

PPT exists to ensure that youth in the city of Toronto have access to information and services that promote healthy, informed decision making around sexual and reproductive health.

Mission

Planned Parenthood Toronto is a community-based, pro-choice agency committed to the principles of equity and to providing accessible and inclusive services which promote healthy sexuality and informed decision-making to the people of the city of Toronto

Products

PPT services are organized under 4 key programming areas and are offered within a pro-choice, inclusive, youth-friendly, non-judgmental environment:

1. Health Services – the PPT clinic provides primary and sexual health care services (everything from flu shots and physicals, to STI and pregnancy testing. The PPT Clinic also provides mental health counselling services and access to other community support services through our case coordinator.

2. Community Programming – PPT is active throughout the city of Toronto through a wide range of community programs and services which include: community health promotion, women’s programs, sexual health workshops for youth, and anti-homophobia education

3. Teen Programming – PPT has a number of services for teens including an anonymous phone service as well as text messaging, MSN chat and email services. It also runs the teenhealthsource.com website where teens can access information on birth control, sex, relationships, pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual and gender diversity.

4. Research – PPT has conducted a number of innovative research projects on the sexual and reproductive needs of women and youth. PPT was the lead agency of the Toronto Teen Survey and has been involved in a study on Youth, Homophobia and Education.
