First time at a Caribbean restaurant. So not sure what to expect. We had wings which were good. Then had the special meal for 2 which included paties, rice and chicken pieces. Paties were really good. The chicken was actually not really great as the chicken was burnt but I guess that maybe a thing since most others chicken was of similar way. Desert n Drinks were ok too. Fries were extremely oily. . Overall bill of 75$. I’d certainly call it expensive
I had never tried Caribbean food before, and it was excellent. I preferred the shrimp combo more than the chicken one. The shrimp are much meatier and chunkier than what is typically served in restaurants. The addition of the rice cooked in chicken broth was an excellent addition. Other than that, plantains are tasty. The macaroni salad and plantains can be switched. If you want to try something new, here is the place to go.
I had a wonderful evening in this restaurant yesterday with my two friends. I first came across this restaurant through poutineweek and was finally able to come here after saving it on my list of restaurants to try. The menu is easy to understand, and the food is great : we all liked our dishes. The riz colé lacked a bit of flavor, but the griot was good. The manager girl with green hair saw that we were struggling with choosing our dishes and didn’t hesitate to recommend her favorites to us : she was very outspoken, friendly and cool. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area again. Kid-friendliness: Good options like french fries and wraps for kids that don't like to stray off too much from familar foods. The restaurant is alcohol-free.
Haven’t enjoyed an experience along with excellent food like this in quite a while. Besides the delicious Haitian and Caribbean style fusion menu, the small cozy vibe and the friendliness of the staff and the owner is something you don’t see a lot of anymore. It felt very home-y and they patiently explained some of the menu items and seemed delighted to do the explaining, rather than annoyed. Try the griot poutine or sandwich and the fried shrimp starters, get some extra aioli sauce and make sure to try out one of the classic drinks that are typical of Haiti and the Caribbean. We will surely be back shortly! Edit: Went back, got the same warm and family-like service and vibe as our first time. This time we went with a group of about a dozen - everyone enjoyed their food, the experience and most of all the people who run this place. Hats off. Highly recommended!
So if you’re in the south west, love carribean food and are very hungry. This is the spot for you. Portions are generous and you can tell all the food has been prepared with love and lots of attention to detail. Highly recommend the shrimp, the guac, the plantain and the griot. Hot tip: ask for extra sauce - heightens the entire experience. OMG AND THE LEMONADE! They explained that the hibiscus syrup is made in house from scratch! TO DIE FOR! kk I’m done!
I had the griyo combo plate with the rice and salad sides. Food was packaged nicely with respective sauces and carried well to Atwater Market where I opened my meal like a kid on Christmas morning. The griyo was nicely flavored and they didn’t skimp on quantity. Some of the pieces were on the dry side, but that’s my experience with griyo. The rice was tasty and the salad of the day was an arugula salad and it went great with its vinaigrette dressing. Wait was about 10-15 minutes which is a little on the long side for me but totally understood after seeing the packaging and tasting. Service was friendly and welcoming.
The food and ambiance was perfect. The food was so flavour packed and perfectly seasoned! The poutine might be the best in the city... Try with the hibiscus lemonade!
Great experience overall, food and portions were great, with the right amount of seasoning. The owner Akim was really nice and attentive, which explains how he was able to obtain the title of the employee of the month at the legendary McDowell's restaurant. Will definitely drop by again the next time I am in that part of town.
Friendly customer service, came for a pick up on Sunday afternoon, girl at the front was super nice. Food is well packaged, good portions.
Visiting Montreal from Florida and I saw this was the place to go for Haitian cuisine. It was delicious we had a little bit of everything. Food came out hot and fresh. The pikliz was spicy and yummy I put it on everything. The meat was cooked well, tender and tasty. I would highly suggest you make this a stop when visiting Montreal!Food: 5/5
