My favourite Pho spot in Whitby! Generous portions, great food and beautiful presentation. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The crispy shrimp and chicken rolls are delicious and they always give us each our own dipping sauce! Would come back here again and again.
Esthetically, the food presentation is beautiful. The meat flavour in their dishes taste amazing and on point. The pork and shrimp spring rolls are delicious alone or with their perfectly prepared dipping sauce. Flavour-wise for their noodle soup broth, it's very simple too simple. It's bland and lacking a lot of depth and umami. Some would say the broth flavour is a little too watered down with not enough spices and seasoning to recreate the complexity of authentic Vietnamese noodle soup broth. Mr. Roger would probably say the same. Otherwise, overall it's a great place for Vietnamese appetizers, rice, and vermicelli dishes. The Noodle soup broth just needs a little bit of improvement and it could be the best place for pho and everything else Vietnamese. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian selection
We wanted to try a new place around the area because we just moved here and this place had good ratings so we wanted to check it out. Food tasted pretty good, even the vegetarian vermicelli dish my wife had. The pho had very pleasant flavours with good aromatics and beefy broth. However, was really disappointed with the pho sizing as they only have medium and large and the large is ... well ... as you can see from my photo, rather underwhelming for $14.
If you enjoy Vietnamese food, you must stop in for a visit. We stumbled in on whim and we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is clean, friendly and inviting. The potions were plentiful and delicious. We were both stuffed and had ample take home for another meal the next day. I know we will be back in the future to try more offerings on the large Pho Sam menu.
Best Pho place in Whitby-Oshawa-Ajax. It’s so rare in Durham or even Toronto for a Pho place to have split green onion in the bowl. Must try their brisket, flank Pho. We come every week after discovering this gem. Cure my homesick soul every Saturday. Best of the best waiter you could get. He cater to your need and remember your order.
We got the bun bo hue and special beef pho. Both were delicious and the broth on both was full of flavor. The meat portions were generous too. The waiter or owner asked if I liked spicy and he brought out what looked like a home made hot pepper paste. This was very spicy and really tasty too. Added another depth to the already delicious soup. The place was also very clean and comfortable. We liked the mural painted on the wall. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu
I tried: - Spring rolls piping hot and crispy - Beef noodle soup the soup was slightly bland and slightly strong lemongrass scent. Overall, I found it ok. The service was really good and was friendly. Realized that I was in a party of 4 and gave us extra plates and fish sauce for all of us. There are only 2 people working front desk and I can foresee a longer waiting time when the store gets busy The price for the food is ok. Small place: about 15 tables Caution allergies: they do have peanut products.
One of the best pho, with very clean and bright environment, looks newly open, big meal and very satisfied taste ! Will set as my favorite spot for food...
First time ordering Pho Sam take out. Items were seperated well. Pho beef was cooked to our specification. Would likely get it rare, or medium rare next time. Broth was tasty, and noodles were perfect.
Got take out and the Bun Bo Hue is proper! Glad they use blood pudding like the actual dish unlike other pho places in Durham that substitute it with unauthentic ingredients. Will definitely be going back to try the Bun Rieu next time! I hope they will have authentic Banh Mi on the menu one day ; Update: Got take out again and the Bun Rieu is delicious! Would def order again. FYI Portion sizes in these pics are only half of the actual size. Dined in also, pho and spring rolls were good!
