What a great find! I've had Pho all over the world not in Vietnam, I concede and this was definitely more than passable. Good flavours without having to douse it in sriracha or hoisin. Only wish they provided basil on the side too apart from the traditional sprouts and lime. The other dishes we had were all really great, especially the fried banana and ice-cream dessert! Very good grilled meats. Good coffee too. Highly recommended.
Place was packed when I entered the restaurant, and I was not disappointed. Food was good, prices were reasonable, and staff were friendly. Service was a bit slow since it was a full house, but I knew that when I got a table. That said, if you're looking for a quick bite, this may not be for you. However, you won't be disappointed if you're willing to wait! I had the pho special and my wife the pork BBQ combo. The pho special had steaming hot both, which was light and flavorful. There was also plenty of meat which was more than enough to make me very full at the end. The pork in the BBQ combo was cooked well and had plenty of flavor as well. The spring roll was tasty and not oily at all. Both dishes definitely hit the spot for us and we were happy with our meals. I highly recommend this place and if I ever travel to Halifax again, I'd check it out again!
This is the best Vietnamese Restaurant in Halifax! I am 100% Vietnamese and I accidentally found this place while on my vacation and it made my trip even more fantastic!! The Bun Bo Hue is simply a heaven and everything is true authentic taste. The customer service is top notch. Very Recommended
Fresh and well portioned food. Clean restaurant. Quick and efficient service. Really enjoyed this meal. I also had an order of shrimp rolls. I would def come back for more.
Has to be the best pho in the area. Coming from Toronto, we have a vast selection of Pho restaurants so you develop a taste for what's good and not. My family of 10 all said the food was the best Asian meal we had while in the east coast. Pho and bun bo hue were authentic. Would be nicer if there was more meat in the dish but great overall. Will visit again if I'm back in the Atlantic.
I came by Pho Maniac quite by chance. I had been talking about Pho with a friend the night before, and after peeking in the window I decided to have an early lunch. The interior is spotless and the staff friendly. Making a decision on what to order was not easy. I finally decided on the vegetarian spring rolls and the beef Pho. Excellent choices. First came the spring rolls, perfectly cooked, with a delicious dipping sauce. Then, the Pho. I added the plump bean sprouts, basil, and fresh red chilli. I could not have been happier. The broth was rich and flavourful, and the meat was cooked perfectly. The flavours took me back to the first time I experienced Pho in a little hole in a wall restaurant in downtown Hanoi! I asked the owner about the bean sprouts — Do you grow your own? He told me no, but gets them from a farm 40 minutes from the city. They were so plump and juicy. Nothing like what is on offer in the grocery store. I was very impressed with their attention to detail. Don’t hesitate to experience the food here. Friendly staff, too!
Red Satay Restaurant has delicious food and great service. I ordered the pho with tender beef and my partner ordered the vermicelli. We received 3 complimentary hot spring rolls with dipping sauce and that was a great start to the meal. The pho broth was savoury and didn’t require any additional seasoning and the portion was just right for one person for the regular. They do have the large size for anyone looking to have more noodles and meat. The vermicelli with bbq was also so good with the sauce. Prices were reasonable and good portions. Overall, a great meal and Red Satay has become our go-to restaurant for Vietnamese food in the city.
Excellent choice of restaurant. We had the shrimp rolls, pho and BBQ choice with chicken, shrimp and pork. Also had fried banana with ice cream and tea. Service was excellent, friendly and rapid. Will definitely return.
The BEST Pho in town. We had 7 people from Vancouver, we all satisfied and contented. Taste GOOD. Finish all Place is CLEAN.
BEST Bun bo Hue....Being an International Private Chef chefgarrin on insta & FB I am extremely picky by fault.... this restaurant is very roomy, clean and friendly. Service was effecient and friendly.... family run businesses are invested in success, and this one deserves lots of success.... the pork Spring Rolls tasted fantastic but lacking in the plating department, only needs a bit more color on the plate for some POP!. The Bun bo Hue broth was deep and I could pick up on every ingredient that went into it. The variety of beef, 3 types, and the home made sliced Vietnamese sausage were abundant and very flavorful. The owner says the sausage is made in house. I added some of their house made chili crisp oil to my bowl as I like it HOT!. I looked around to see what the Pho looked like and it was looking great, many customers were ordering the special beef pho so that's my choice for the next visit. This is now my favorite spot for Bun bo Hue, if you love pho then please try it's big brother Bun bo Hue.
