The staff here at the Castlegar Pet Value are extremely kind and helpful. They all seem to go out of their way to give the best service!! I prefer this location over the Trail location %

Quality of the store has gone down after several passionate long term employees left. New employees don’t greet customers and I’ve watched customers walk in and out without paying for goods. Their knowledge of animal care is mediocre at best. Store is usually clean but under stocked now. Terrible location relative to the core of castlegar.
Horrible customer service. Clerk at the front said we could return or exchange a faulty dog toy no problem lasted 30 seconds while being used as directed on the packaging. She told us to go kill time while she looks for her manager. I was understanding, but after keeping us waiting looking for the manager for about 15 minutes she returned without her manager but to tell me she spoke to her manager and was mistaken, we can’t return a faulty dog toy.... $17 down the drain for 30 seconds of “fun”. I have never returned a dog toy before I expect them to not last forever but this was next level. Do not recommend this pet store, they do not stand by their “FREE Easy Returns” policy.
Extremely disappointed. Only had my dog for a couple months. In this time Ive purchased a few bags of food, a couple of washes, treats and toys. On my last visit, I actually paid attention to what the food rang in at the checkout. They overcharged me from the price on the shelf tag. I pointed it out and the cashier went and removed the tag, reduced the cost on this purchase for me. Remembering what I paid for the previous bags, I mentioned that I overpaid for my previous purchases. Now any normal store would apologize and maybe try to make it up by giving a small coupon or something, but no, I get an immediate response, we can't do ANYTHING about that! Ummm, yes you can, you hold all the power to correct a previous mistake. So what I get from this is that the staff, for at least 2 months have not checked their shelf tags, and apparently don't care, which leads me to wonder what else they are overcharging for. Small gratuities go a long way in customer service, so disappointed in this experience at a store that I was actually excited about going to. Not any more...
The staff here are super friendly and helpful. People are comfortable bringing their pets in with them. Then store has everything you could need for your pets. You can get your tags printed and your dog's waged right there in the store! Our one stop pet shop in the West Kootenays.
Pet Value in Grand Forks, Trail, and Castlegar are all great! Clean store, helpful knowledgeable staff. Hope at the Trail store was especially great, good job Hope, keep up the great work
Staff was great! Not much selection for fish or small animals items..also a little pricey for small animal treats. The fish prices are quite good.
Terrible groomer!!! Our little puppy’s ears are raw and bleeding, her fur patchy and uneven everywhere down to the skin and, the worst looking cut I have ever seen. We had to even pay $80 for this terrible experience.
Anna was incredibly insensitive and rude with me on the phone. I called to ask about getting another dwarf hamster. My daughters 6 month old hamster that we had got at pet valu was killed by a friends visiting dog who knocked the tunnel off the cage and then chased and killed it. She told me many things, insinuating we were not taking care of our animal properly. She said they would not sell us a single dwarf hamster though they had done it before and we have another dwarf hamster so it would not be alone. Then she said maybe it would be a good life lesson for my daughter. I informed her her father had just passed away a year and a half before so she had plenty of life lessons. She said nothing to this. Not suggestions on where to get one. Or some help in any way. We just lost a pet we loved. Very insensitive, upsetting and not helpful.
