I brought Taylor 14 and Kate 2 1/2 and some Mc Donald's to have a little picnic in the nearest park near our destination. There were several homeless people camping out North of the park. A guy screamed out " Can I have a happy meal"? We sat down at a picnic table & started eating our lunch. I took Kate over to the big toy & let her go down the slide a few times. We didn't stay long. On our way back to my truck we stopped & gave some homeless guys our french fries & a couple dollars. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again & if close to it would probably go out of my way to find a more kid friendly park.
Decently clean & maintained park, lots of green space, picnic tables, hoops, big toy and swings.
This is a hit or miss place. On some days it is a great place to go especially when they are have community events, however there is a huge homeless problem near there and homeless people are camping in the park. It is not necessarily a threat per say, however it is not very appealing to the eye. If you get an opportunity Johnson's Candy is amazing!
I love this place. I often go there to read and have a snack on my way back from the grocery. I walk so I stop for a rest there. There are some creepy people so keep an eye open especially with your children. I never had problems but ya know you just cant tell these days. Overall its a nice place, usually clean and pleasant.
The playground is very outdated and the park itself is located on a busy and very sketchy street corner. It's across the street from one of the few convenience stores in the hilltop neighborhood and attracts lots of people who are obviously using illicit substances and not the sort I'd want around my children. Very unfortunately, there are homeless folks who frequent the park and walk the streets around the park. Not a safe place!

It used to be a nice place until Tacoma decided not to help the homeless but to just relocate them to the park. It's really ashame that Tacoma has decided to basically misuse the charities and the tax payers dollars instead of putting our money to use to help people like it's supposed to.
It's great if they're having a community event but otherwise it's a bad. There are drug syringes and homeless people who croud arohnd the tables. It's not fun in the sun to be asked to use your phone three times.
