Pearls feels like a dental clinic-spa fusion. The environment is lovely and relaxed. Finding parking is easy. The waiting area feels more like a comfortable living room than a waiting room, or there is the option to enjoy the massage chairs to melt any worry away before the appointment time. Dr. Jang is a caring and kind dentist whom I trust and know that I am in good hands with. Her assistant Renee is equally lovely; she is very calm and kind and puts you at ease in an instant. I love the option of watching tv with headphones on as a distraction while the dental work is taking place, and it’s so nice to be in the loop with what’s going on - Dr. Jang takes the time to show you what your tooth looks like or what is happening behind a filling so you feel you are making an informed decision - I love that Dr. Jang educates as she does her work - it affirms the work that is being done and you know you have made the right choice by taking care of your teeth and your health.

The staff here are fantastic and friendly. I no longer fear the dentist. In fact, even while living in other cities we've continued to use them as our family dentist. Thanks Dr. Lau and crew for taking good care of us!

Very friendly staff! The hygienist, Kimmy, was gentle and informative! Dr. Lau was great! Normally I have anxiety about going to the dentist, but this group put me right at ease.

My experience was good. Way pricey and way over charged me for my visit. For this reason I will not be back.

SHOP AROUND FOR DENTISTS - DENTISTS CHARGE WHAT THEY WANT. Yes this place is shiny and new - however the trendy decor and free chocolate bars finds it's way into your bill. Alberta Blue Cross sets a fee schedule for dental services (ab.bluecross.ca/pdfs/831…) - however dentists in Alberta can charge whatever they want. They are encouraged to price their services reasonably based on the fee schedule. PEARLS DOES NOT PRICE THEIR SERVICES APPROPRIATELY BASED ON THE FEE SCHEDULE: Here's the breakdown for a typical yearly visit: Dental Exam: Alberta Blue Cross recommended fee: $50.30 Pearls' rate: $72.30 Scaling (plaque/tartar removal) AB Blue Cross: $51/unit Pearls: $80.85/unit Polish AB Blue Cross: $42.60 Pearls: $82.50 Black and White Bitewing X-Rays (4) AB Blue Cross: $45.50 Pearls: $83.75 Fluoride: AB Blue Cross: $19.00 Pearls: $38.50 Total AB Blue Cross visit: $259.40 (2 units of scaling) Total Pearls Visit: $438.75 Let's assume you are an AB Blue Cross member. They cover 80% of their recommended fee schedule: Coverage for a basic dental visit: $207.52 Amount paid out of pocket for a typical visit: $231.23 Pearls charges roughly 70% more than the recommended costs for typical dentistry services. This isn't a complaint against their staff or quality of service. They are nice and do good work. However, for a basic clean up I find it a little ridiculous to have to pay that much out of pocket. Blue Cross encourages its plan members to speak with their dentists about charging appropriately based on the plans their customers have. I attempted to do this with Pearls and they did not even want to engage in that conversation. Their prices are firm (and high). Having spoken with other dental offices, most dentists will accommodate the plans their clients have. SHOP AROUND!! Don't make the same mistake I did and get hit up with a huge bill after you spend an hour in a dentist's chair... it's not fun.
