Peanut Barrel

The peanut barrel is very hard to find during the day. The sign light is not lit and the solid doors look like they lead to a dark basement. When I finally figured out how to get in, I was not greeted. I sat without anyone noticing me and had to ask for a menu. The waitress recommended the olive burger, it was amazing. The olive spread was topped high on the burger, the tangy-ness of the olives with the juicy meat was a great combo. The fries were the longest I've seen, as long as the basket. The place does seem a bit run down and can use some updates.

Big fan of our experience here. A local dive bar for MSU that we were at for winter graduation. Parking is behind the building and your ticket will be validated by the bar. We ordered their chili cheese fries which were heavy on the chili and light on the cheese, something we actually really liked! They do, indeed, offer peanuts. They’re a couple dollars for a bag of peanuts you can shell. We all ordered various burgers and they were fantastic! I got the olive burger and didn’t add tomato and lettuce so I could taste the olives but no need! The olives were salty and plentiful! It’s extra for fries or potato salad but, again, a couple dollars for an up charge. Burgers averaged $12, specialty pitchers including Guinness and cider were $16, fries were $12. Seat yourself seating type of place and very dive bar vibes but I honestly absolutely loved it! Our waiter was chill but super efficient and helpful. If I’m in the area again I would love to come again!

Had a good experience at The Peanut Barrel. When I was in college I never went to this East Lansing icon but I am glad I have finally tried it. Simple menu helps to focus on quality. I had the cheese burger which was good, for 9$ it's great. They have thick cut fries that are cooked to perfection, not soggy which happens a lot with thick fries. Fries 10outta10. If I want a decent burger and amazing fries for a great price this is my new place. Side note: they allowed our pup on the patio which is phenomenal. I would recommend trying it out if you haven't already and I'll be back for sure.

We could have gone to JJ nearby or many other chain restaurants but The Peanut Barrel caught my eye. Unfortunately, due to COVID there are no peanuts, but we were very happy with our choice! Although very simple the olive burger I had was good. Service was very attentive! Overall well recommended.

Lil small but good burgers and fries amazing Blake was absolutely perfect in every aspect. You will be well taken care here. Love this place Kid-friendliness: Kids love burgers Parking: Large lot out back and cost is low. Wheelchair accessibility: I would not recommend this location for a wheelchair although the access into the location would be considered usable in a chair the locations interior is extremely tight and it would be hard to maneuver.

It was a cool little place, but I asked for some cheese sticks and I was told only thing that goes on our fryers is French fries. It's a bar restaurant, how do you not have finger food? Food was good! Go Green! Food: 4/5

Best olive burger on the entire planet and I've had a LOT of them. French fries are perfection. Wait staff is personable and no nonsense. Ask for Jill if you can!Food: 5/5

Fantastic burger and fries. I recommend the Rodeo burger. They will ask you about tomato and lettuce but you can also get raw or fried onion and pickles. Get some peanuts to snack on while you wait. Great service as well!Food: 5/5

Gooey melted cheese and mushrooms perched amid a fresh and perfectly prepared beef patty...the Crowning delight is the bun—light, airy, clean, fluffy goodness that somehow supports this monstrosity. It is robust and honest, hearty without being heavy-handed, a simple, yet amazingly satisfying creation that makes you wonder how so much flavor could be packed into each morsel. I have been a fan of this place for years, and have always found the owners and staff to be welcoming and good-natured embodying true “Michigander” qualities. A trip to East Lansing just isn’t complete until you swing by the Peanut Barrel and grab a bite to eat!

Good food! I had the rueben. My family really enjoyed their burgers and chili cheese fries. Nice beer selection. The long island iced tea was also good. Place was full. Reasonable wait for food. Server forgot to bring a drink order. I would go back.
