Story

Two great Restaurants Side by Side in historic downtown Belleville. DINKEL'S has been in business since 1978. In summer, the courtyard provides an oasis with its fountain and lush plants, and great for al fresco dining. A mural of old Belleville covers the back wall of the restaurant. PAULO'S with it's large beams and exposed limestone wall and Tuscany warmth, has a wood-fired oven and you can observe your pizza being made fresh. The building was once used as a post office and upstairs you can still see one of the safes that was used.

Dinkels is open 7 days for private functions from 2 to 150 Guests.
Weddings, birthdays, corporate events, christening celebrations, bar & bat mitzvahs, retirements, have your ceremony inside our restaurant or in the beautiful courtyard by the fountain, cocktails reception or sit down dinner, rehearsal dinner or lunch, anniversaries and much more. Its one of those places puts you in a good mood as you enter. If the weather is nice definitely sit on the patio. I recommend you give yourself plenty of time as the service takes a little while. I ordered shrimp and crab pasta with greek salad. Salad had a little too much peppers to my liking. Pasta was cooked great and had plenty crab pieces. I have seen some bad reviews about service speed and food, if you ask me, go with a positive attitude and use the time to look around the decor or the building, get your food and leave with a happy tummy.
This place is amazing! I went with my 7 month old and was wowed by the atmosphere and the service right away. Michael was such a great server and recommended the Linguine Roberto which was I can't wait to go back again with the hubby! Kid-friendliness: Asked if I needed a high chair as I was sitting down and brought out a little fork so my son could try my dish!
I was very impressed with the service, food and ambience . From announcing the feature items with great detail through to big smiles, a few respectful laughs and general happiness from the staff, I felt I was in the hands of professionals. That is a very rare thing for me these days as I leave most restaurants with some annoyance. I had known this to be a good restaurant years ago but Bellville has changed and my expectations were quite low. They certainly exceeded all of my expectations, and I will return the next time I am in Bellville. Wheelchair accessibility: Good Dietary restrictions: Celiac. Not just gluten intolerance.
Wonderful atmosphere, very beautiful. Great service. Good menu selection. We had a house green salad which was very nice, fresh and good quality. We shared a pizza which was good. It didn't have the taste I usually associate with a wood oven pizza. It was good but not exceptional although tastes do vary wildly on pizza and others may say exceptional. I would certainly recommend the restaurant and I look forward to trying other dishes on the menu.
We had dinner here on the July long weekend. We managed to get in just before the kitchen closed and scored an amazing table in the courtyard. The decor is pretty spectacular and definitely transports you to what feels like an authentic Italian eatery. We had good service and overall we enjoyed our food, though it felt a bit overpriced for what it was. If you’re visiting from out of town and are looking to dine somewhere that has character and charm and isn’t a chain restaurant, you should definitely visit Paulo’s!
We happened upon Paolo's Trattoria and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a little "cheesy" but fun at the same time. My friend lamb was the best he has ever eaten and he eats alot of lamb! and my pasta was good. But by far the BEST and I mean BEST part was our server Kim. She was extremely personable, professional, friendly and witty. Her recommendations were on point and she maintained that hard to find balance between professionalism and a down to earth feel. We would return simply to have Kim as our server!
I had veal marsala with mash and veggies and my husband had chicken linguine with pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. We shared crab cakes as an appy. Crab cakes were delicious, very delicate and flavourful. Both our entrees were very good. We were seated in the front area which was very quiet. If you're looking for a more lively area, ask to be seated in the courtyard area. Very beautiful old building.
I was in the area for work and a colleague recommended this place. My friend and I shared the bruschetta to start. I had the asparagus pasta for my main. It was so good, and not too heavy. It actually reminded me of my favourite pasta from back home. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the pasta was made fresh. They have a lot of daily specials too. The space is quite big, with rustic decor. It would be nice for a big party. The prices are a bit high, but the portions are also good.
Dinner was great. I had the Veal Marsala, with a side of grilled veggies, and my wife had the Mango chicken. We both loved it, with the added escargots for an app, and a bottle of wine, it was a great start to our evening in Belleville to see Colin James perform at the Empire Theatre.
Paulos was closed but it's menu was included at Dinkles, next door. We had the most delicious food, sharing appetizers of crab cakes & spinach salad, but having food left over. A carafe of wine and excellent server made for a most pleasant lunch!Food: 5/5
