Always an absolute favorite. Whenever I'm in Sault, Michigan to visit family I always stop across the border Paul's for some Pulla. They have THE BEST cardamom bread anywhere. Their other bakery items are also amazing, including their butter tarts and butterflies! Stop in!!
I have been eating Paul's Bakery's Pulla Finnish Coffee Bread since my memory begin. Like Proust's madelines nothing could evoke for me more precisely the experience of a simple yet exquisite European breakfast served by my Finnish grandmother, Linda Koskela Rudd like the soft delicious texture of this cardamom bread. In recent years our family has renewed our passports simply to be sure that when we visited the Upper Peninsula from our home in Ohio that we could cross the bridge and buy as many loaves as possible some of which were devoured before we even made it back to the US.
Was looking for 100% dark rye baked fresh and they had it. Lots of yummy desserts too including Finnish bread.
Every time we come to the Soo we stop by Paul's. The butter tarts and meat rolls are to die for. Wish we had a bakery like this closer to home.
If you haven't had the Finnish coffee bread you are missing out on an essential Sault Ste. Marie experience.
Love love love this place. Everyrhing is always delicious and fresh. Staff are always friendly and willing to chat.
Most delicious baking you'll ever eat. Hands down.
