Wonderful vet! Absolutely fantastic. My two young cats had never been to a vet before, they get very nervous around strangers and don't like to travel. All the staff I've met so far here have been a delight, always positive and happy and helpful. My little fur babies were a little anxious but were fairly calm with the vet, he was very gentle and caring when he handled them. They needed to get spayed and were not happy about any of it at the time, but now they are very happy and healthy. Back to being spoiled as they should be!
I took my cat in recently for an annual checkup as it has been a few years since we last visited the vet. My cat is very scared of the vet's office and doesn't travel well, but all of the staff that we encountered were very patient and kind with him. My vet walked me through what they were checking for, what vaccinations were required, and outlined what my options were for treatment. I felt informed, cared for, and that the entire team at the clinic wanted what was best for my pet. Thank you Paramount team!
I took my senior cat in for routine checkup. He is very old and has kidney disease. The team at Paramount was very sweet dealing with him even though he is a monster at the vet. The prices are fair and the staff are wonderful. Thanks Paramount for taking care of my boy!
I had a negative experience with one of the vets, but I waited a bit to write my review because I was too upset at the time. I brought my sick dog to Paramount. She had an upset stomach and was not eating. I suspected that, in addition to feeling unwell, she had a thyroid issue based on symptoms she started exhibiting in the months prior to our emergency vet visit we actually had an exam scheduled two days later but brought her in early due to her upset stomach. I explained my concerns to the vet and she suggested we conduct a variety of tests. I asked her if each of these tests were necessary to figure out what was wrong with my dog and she insisted they were. I followed the vet's advice and paid for x-rays, a few other things, and a test that was hundreds of dollars to test my dog's thyroid hormone levels. The total cost of the visit was three times that. After the results came in, the vet told me that the results of the test were inconclusive because my dog is sick. She suggested we get the test done AGAIN when my dog's stomach is no longer upset. However, the vet knew that my dog was sick when we came in, so I don't know why she recommended a test that she knew would have inconclusive results. I would not have agreed to an expensive test if I had known that my dog would just have to get the same test done again. The vet used the trust we placed in her so she could sell us unnecessary services. I asked her how and when we could find out if my dog has a thyroid issue. At this point, the vet rolled her eyes at me. My partner, who was also in the room, later confirmed that he too saw her roll her eyes at me. Nobody should have to deal with that behaviour when their pet is sick. ***BTW we went to another clinic a few weeks later and the vet there determined that my dog does have a thyroid problem. She is doing much better now. After that debacle, I paid my bill at 1:12 pm and waited another hour for the medication for my dog's upset stomach. I asked a customer care rep twice when the medication would be ready, and her response was, "I don't know." She could not even be bothered to go to the back and ask how much longer it would be. I had to ask another receptionist to do it since the one would not do it. I received the medication at 2:15 pm. I left the vet in tears because of how frustrating the experience was. Later that day, I contacted the client care lead about my experience. She blamed me by saying that I had asked for the test to be done even though the vet recommended it without fully explaining everything. She did reluctantly offer to provide another test for my dog for free. However, the whole experience was such a failure from the top down that we decided to go another clinic instead of return for the free test. If I could sum up my experience in three words it would be: predatory, unprofessional, and callous.
We had to take our girl in as an emergency visit and they got us in immediately! The staff was beyond nice and understanding of the deep love for our pup as we had to make the decision to say goodbye. The front desk staff were so gentle and Dr. Wells was patient as we said goodbye to our girl, I've never had such a patient vet. I highly recommend this place and I'm so thankful the North has them. Unfortunately all other emergency vets are a big chain starting with the letter V and they love to charge double every other vet out there. Pricing was fair at Paramount which was a nice change to an emergency visit, let alone a standard visit. Thank you for looking after our Cheeky Paramount and helping her cross the rainbow bridge with love!
Vets are always very nice and make sure you understand everything. The only downside is the long waits. Most of the time you can't get an appointment until 2 weeks out and the walk-in usually has me waiting 3-4 hours per visit, but it's understandable and I'm happy they're open for walk ins.
Paramount is an amazing animal hospital! Calgary has very few 24-hour animal hospitals. When our bulldog, Tess, was in medical distress at 10:30 in the evening, I called another veterinary hospital, supposedly a 24-hour hospital, and they advised that they wouldn't accept us if we arrived even a minute past 11:00 pm. So instead, we drove to Paramount. They rushed out into the parking lot to help us with Tess and took her right in to be examined. They immediately gave her meds and oxygen and ran some tests to determine what was wrong. The test results, including a consultation with a radiologist, came back in less than an hour. Because of their quick work late at night, they saved Tess's life! I would wholeheartedly recommend them to any pet owner.
We’ll always go here for our pet’s needs. Everyone here has just been so wonderful. I had to bring in our pup, as her health was declining rapidly. The doctor was so incredibly kind and talked me through my options and remained as impartial as she could, with our dog’s best interest at heart. The clinic staff were all so loving and doting on my pup, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of folks during such a heartbreaking time. They really helped keep her happy and calm, and walked me through everything with such warmth. You’re all one in a million, and the unconditional love you give to each of our animals comes back to you tenfold. Thank you so much
Great place. First visit was a year ago when our puppy was sick, unfortunately she didn’t make it. The last visit was 2 weeks ago when our 15 year old cat was ill. He ended up having to be put down as his heath issues were to advanced and his quality of life was rapidly declining. Both visits were sad and we were obviously heartbroken. But the front end staff, techs and vets were absolutely fantastic, caring and compassionate, each and every one of them. Made both visits really good experiences even though it wasn’t a great outcome. We have 1 Middle Aged cat, that we will be taking here from now on for his regular visits. Thank you guys so much for being so kind. It really helps in situations like these. HIGHLY recommend
