Our Community Credit Union is a full service financial institution. We offer competitive loan and savings rates in addition to Mortgage and Investment services. We are a member owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative.
On December 3rd 1941, four days before Pearl Harbor, we began as Simpson Employees Federal Credit Union. At the time, logging was seasonal and banks were unlikely to loan to a anyone for whom work was sometimes erratic. The Credit Union was created by the employees for the employees.
In 2006 the credit union changed its name to Our Community Credit Union to better reflect a growing and diversified member base. In 2010, after a successful membership vote, OCCU switched from being a Federal Charter to a State Charter and opened up it's membership to Washington State residents.
We’re not a bank, we are a credit union. We may offer similar products but our philosophies and operational structure are completely different. When you open a savings account at OCCU you’re instantly a member and an owner of OCCU. As an owner, you reap the benefits of the credit union’s success.
