I had the fortunate opportunity to do my concealed weapons permit class here. The store was clean, the classroom was clean and well maintained, and the staff was really welcoming even for this Floridian. :- The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot about MN law and the differences between MN and FL, which is we’re my permit is from. The range is nice, bright and clean. I would definitively recommend anyone looking to do a concealed weapons permit class to do so here.
Very unsatisfied with Osseo Gun Club, I purchased their “deep cleaning service” and was told they take every piece apart including springs and screws and put in a sonic cleaning bath and scrub down gun. This was why I chose them to do this service. I got a call my gun was done and brought it home and it was still very dirty and in the trigger assembly there was still grass and grime in it. They only did a quick wipe down on the outside. I brought it back and they said they only did a regular clean and I'd have to pay more for the deep clean. So I paid more and they promised they'd do a deep clean and scrub it all down and put the trigger in a sonic bath. I went to pick up the gun the second time and it was a little bit clean but still not clean. I believe the gun was never disassembled like they stated and promised. I also have to either call back on Saturday or bring the gun back on Saturday because nobody else can discuss it. I'd like a refund since it doesn't seem to be working out and I need to bring it else where.
My friend called ahead to sell a Glock 43 to the shop. We called the store to confirm they were accepting guns for purchase & resale before driving over, and the male associate who answered our call stated that you do purchase firearms and to bring it in for an appraisal. We arrived within 30 min after our call & had the gun looked at….to then discover that they couldn’t write checks/disperse payment for the gun for another two business days. Which wasn’t an issue, if we would’ve been told that when we called before we drove over. We ended up driving somewhere else and received $90 more than what your store had offered the same night for the same gun. Misleading business practices at best.
I’ll say the Permit to Carry course with Matthew Peterson was good. Lots of good info and well spoken throughout. I also like the general interior as it looks cleans. And having an onsite gunsmith, even infrequently, is nice. However, I have many problems with the store and range policies. First, no rapid fire, which is an important defensive skill to know. Then, all rifles have to be shot out at a minimum of 25 yards, including 22LR. Also the range pricing isn’t exactly competitive. On the store side, the prices are subpar. Ammo and firearms basically at MSRP, so you’re not finding any deals here. Availability and selection of firearms is limited too, instore and online. And if you’re interested in NFA items, they have a “store policy” of running *another* NICS check on pickup of silencers. This is unnecessary as Form 4473 has checkbox 28 to avoid this check, as the NFA process already includes a background check, making this an unnecessary burden on the customer and the NICS system, wasting both your time and resources for a product you’re already approved for. Finally, if you want conjugal visits while waiting on your approval, you have to be a member, which starts at $500 per year. I’ve had decent talks with the shop staff and they seem like nice folks. But I won’t be recommending this store to anyone anytime soon. Edit: also, their FFL transfer fee is like $60 for non-members, which is way too much. I’ve also tried weighing the costs of membership with another popular firearms store and with everything I’ve written, even a deeply discounted membership could not convince me to continue patronizing this institution.
My 1st trip into a gun range, never before having shot a pistol. Mark the RO was kind, patient, thorough, and knew his guns! He gave me a memorable instructional and I can't wait to go back! PS. He had a great 'Gunside Manner'
My wife and I are new pistol shooters. We have visited multiple times, at different times during the week, and have called the shop on the phone. On every occasion, the service we received was excellent. The staff was always willing to provide lots of info and show us various firearms, even when we were not yet in a position to buy one. We had an intro lesson private instruction with Jim, who is a very effective teacher. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for instruction. The indoor range is well-appointed, and they do their best to isolate noise, which I really appreciate. Extremely loud rifles are shot in their own bay, and the other bay is limited usually to pistols and smaller rifles. Yet another bay of the range is reserved for classes and lessons. For someone like me, for whom the noise is the main hurdle to enjoying the sport, it's a nice touch. The soundproofing between the range and the shop area is excellent as well.
I'm a Canadian who was passing through town and thought it would be a good opportunity to try out firearms outlawed in Canada. I showed up expecting the process to be simpler, but since I was not a permit holder I needed a private lesson. Lisa who was at the counter said the earliest I could get a private lesson was 2pm it was just past 12 when I walked in but she enthusiastically dropped what she was doing to start the lesson soon after. I had a great time using a Glock 9mm, Lisa showed all the correct procedures and didn't waste time doing so. I had 1hr on the range and used 100 rounds of ammo at 20$ per box of 50. Total cost of this excursion was 140$, more expensive than I was hoping for but worth every penny for the experience. The service was superb and Lisa is a excellent teacher, highly recommend!
I love going in here. The staff are great, I especially love the owner, . Jeanine. I belong to AG&AG and always feel at home when I'm there.
Don't waste your time and money here. The staff is unknowledgeable and has their undies in a bunch. Melt all of the guns
I completed the basic handgun safety course this past weekend with Mike L. as the instructor. He did an excellent job in making the course practical, easy to follow, and filled with real-world examples. He could have gone "death by PowerPoint," but covered the key topics in a more engaging way that worked for the full class. When browsing the pro shop, the staff were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and engaging. They answered my questions quickly and provided great experience in what may work best and other considerations for any buyer. Overall, a great experience and I know I will be back soon.
