Love this place, nice staff, great food hot and cold, doesn’t have everything, so it cant be your main grocery, but what it has, is good price. Like do go in there to buy cereal, very few selection, go in the to get some fresh noodles and some fresh crabs. The sauce selection is also great. The most annoying part is the shopping carts that needs a dollar. It’s 2024 and its west van, come on , who has coins these days.
I remember this location opening back in 2010 ish? Previously there wasn’t too many Asian grocery stores and we would frequent Chinatown, cross the lions gate or iron memorial second narrows. It’s nice to have this location here on the North Shore. I don’t live on the North Shore any more. I’ve moved closer to work and I don’t miss rush hour on those bridges LOL. But I do come back from time to time to visit friends and re live some nostalgic vibes from being born and raised there.nnPrices seem a touch higher at this location on certain items. I’ve always had positive experiences so far with the ingredients and live seafood. But service is a hit or miss.nJust do what I do. If you’re not happy with the way they prepare or bag your live seafood, just make the drive to Metrotown instead. I had the pleasure of visiting this place recently, and let me tell you, their BBQ selection is top-notch! Their butcher and fish counter have a wide variety of meats and fresh fish to choose from, it was a true food lover's paradise.nIf you're a BBQ pork enthusiast like me, don't miss out on this gem!
Osaka Supermarket is definitely top-of-the-list for South/East Asian food and grocery shopping: all the standards of other supermarkets plus special finds.nnWide selections of produce, baked goods, hot prepared Chinese dishes at the take-away counter *BBQ Pork, BBQ Duck & Cantonese Beef Brisket = definite personal faves*, fresh meat and seafood, dairy and frozen, huge Western and Asian snacks/sweets aisles, and even kitchen aisle featuring cooking ware and ceramic serving / table sets.nnThe stand-out sections include the fresh produce *think: baby bok-choy, gai-lan, custard apples, ataulfo mangoes and more* and bakery areas *think: rich egg tarts & Portuguese custard tarts, mango pound cake, butter cake wrapped in pastry* ... and the list goes on where you can find broad range of products not easily found elsewhere on the Northshore.nnFor me the front area of the store is The Fave: again, baked goods, and especially the Seasonal Feature Section in middle which is a colorful riot of rare imported gift - finds during Christmas & Chinese New Year - absolutely best time of the year at Osaka, for real.nnOsaka Supermarket is located on 2nd level of Park Royal South in upper gallery between Hennessey and The Brick. Ample parking is available on rear/covered upper decks with elevator between decks, as well as exterior access for shopping outside of Mall hours.
