Opus 40

It is extremely impressive, don't get me wrong. The fact that it was the work of one man only makes it more so. The presentation of old tools in the farm house was also enjoyable. It's cool to see but I wouldn't go too far out of the way for a visit. It's not mind boggling awesome enough to warrant a three hour trip. Worth a one hour drive out of the way at the most.

A really neat place nestled in Saugerties in the Catskills. The work of one determined artist, it's a maze of stone on scenic grounds. The older kids had fun exploring and building a stone monument of their own. But it's not for young children or for climbing, running and wild play. Be aware that this is private property and there is a fee per-person including children. The proprietors are very nice and accommodating and they were willing to work out a reasonable entry fee for our large group. They are also (understandably) very cautious about children being that the place has lots of hazardous drops and nooks. I had a great time there, but I'd go again with a smaller group and older kids.

Really cool place to walk around and appreciate the sculptures. Beautiful setting in the Catskills. Check out the Quarry man's museum too!

Opus 40 is stunning. I've loved coming here over the years and was pleased to bring my brother and his wife visiting from CO. This is a true gem of the northeast. The grounds are well managed and the folks who run the place are completely committed to the long term preservation. Will be back again soon.

Incredible landscape/environmental sculpture. Great place for a quick visit or extended quiet reflection depending on what you're in the mood for. Beware the golf cart, you will likely need to re-park to fit into an unmarked and uneven parking spot.
