Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse
"Made to be seen.A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There’s just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens, a movie, Shipwrecks of the Straits, and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum make this “Castle of the Straits” a true gem of the Great Lakes.New for 2020 - for the first time in the houses existence, the public will be allowed to explore the second floor of the house! The new exhibit will feature two period settings and a gallery exploring the Marshall family.#thisismackinac"

The lighthouse is closed during late fall and winter, but it's still a delight to visit. I have been here a few times and enjoyed seeing the lighthouse in the snow. It was also fun to go to in season. You do have to pay to enter and get access to all of the buildings. It is fascinating to learn the history of the area, it's keepers, how the lighthouse changed and evolved over time, and of the nearby shipwrecks. When we were here last year, my grandfather enjoyed finally being able to imb the tower, which does cost extra.
My son and I spend about an hour here. The shipwreck museum is awesome for such a small building. My son loved the large models showing the ships in their current state on the lake floors and what they looked like in there original glory. Some of the recovered artifacts were equally impressive. Climbing the lighthouse stairs to the lantern room was the best part and definitely worth the small admission cost.
Very well preserved old Lighthouse. Offers tours going over the different areas of the house, and a trip up the tower which you must be on a tour to go up. Outside of the house there's a shed that has a video about the lighthouse and it's history, and another small building that has a small shipwreck exhibit. This is one of my favorite locations in Mackinaw and I try to visit it every time I'm up here.
Beautiful old lighthouse. The displays were fun for the kids and informative for the adults. Be sure to take the tour up to the light. Great park outside to walk around in, with a great view of the bridge.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Great photo opportunities here when near the bridge. A very classic and well kept lighthouse. The tour inside is a must at least once, we haven't been inside in a long time, I think you can still go to the top.
I stopped by September 7th and don’t recall if if was closed for the season or not. It’s located within Michilimackinac state park The outside is well kept and very photogenic. There are picnic areas, grills, benches, a gazebo and restrooms. Great views of the bridge just a little noisy due to it’s proximity. I would definitely stop by if you’re in the area.
Scenic lighthouse with decent sized park area on the beach. There are several grills and picnic tables, so you can sit and gaze at the Mackinac bridge as it stretches into the distance. There are adequate, clean, and well-stocked modern restrooms.
A very scenic and enjoyable place to wander and explore. Lots of history and a spectacular view of the bridge and area from the lighthouse. Area is super clean there are lots of great photo opportunities.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Another beautiful Michigan lighthouse! You also can see stunning views of the Mackinac Bridge from here! Be sure to add this to your lighthouse bucket list!Visited onWeekday
Very quaint little old lighthouse, has an almost castle look to it. There's a nice gift shop at the entrance, nothing too gaudy in it. Inexpensive paid tours of the property and the lighthouse itself. Just a few streets over from the Mackinac Bridge.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
