Old Armory BBQ in Decorah is home to slow smoked meats and homemade sauces. We prepare BBQ at its best!

Story

Established in 2012, Old Armory BBQ is a casual dining atmosphere with counter service. Smoked meats include beef brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked turkey, chicken, and salmon. We offer vegetarian options as well as fun appetizers and burgers. You’ll definitely want to try our mac and cheese and our cornbread, each is unforgettable! All of our food items are made in house and served fresh daily. In addition to our normal offerings, we also prepare a special menu every week.

I have to drive for an hour to get here, but it is worth it! This is the best place for BBQ in the area! It is better than Famous Dave's, John Hardy's (Rochester MN) and J&J (Nelson WI), not saying they're bad just not as good. Although the regular menu food is good I like to stick to the specials menu, it changes and is always a great selection that will be different by the time I get here again. The staff has been nothing but nice and service is fast.

Wierdest and worst BBQ experience I have ever had. Between the "chef"... No, cook, throwing tantrums over running out of food, the overflowing pile of dishes and cups spilling out of the bus tub dangerously close to the iced tea and beverage station, a plate of chicken tenders that looked like chicken livers, customers instructed to retrieve toothpicks stuck in mini pumpkins when asked where to find one, a six top that was served over the course of 25 minutes, or the unmistakable feeling that I am eating old BBQ... Need I say more, because I could go on. Good intentions run amuck.

It was hard to get in the door to get to a table-the way people flow needs improving. We had the ribs. Not good. Rub was caked on and that was the only flavor. The meat lacked the sultry smoked flavor. So I thought try one of the 5-6 sauces. Nope - not even the sauces were good!

Delicious food! The BBQ offerings are expertly prepared. Staff attentive and courteous. It's a destination in Decorah!
