This place has such great comfort food! Their in house kimchi is delicious and used in the majority of all their dishes. We enjoyed every single dish we ordered and were amazed with the two man team handling the kitchen on a Friday night. We'll be back here again, definitely.Food: 5/5
Fairly new addition to Kingsway and it was pretty good. The pork belly and cold noodles were my favourite. Pay at the front first then get seated. Slightly more expensive than other Korean places in the neighbourhood but nonetheless a good spot for a meal with friends.
Came here with a friend at noon and it was a bit busy, got a seat no problem though. You come inside, order and pay at the front then find a seat and they'll serve you afterwards. Menu is pretty minimal but there was a nice decent selection available. Unfortunately when we came in at noon, seafood waffle was already sold out. We ended up ordering more tacos instead. Food came in about 5-10 minutes after sitting. I ordered the cold noodles and tacos and were really good. My friend enjoyed the ramen and coffee. Overall, a nice little cafe with delicious food, no complaints there. Definitely will be coming again in the future.
Have been here quite a few times, has become one of my go to spots ~ Staff are super friendly, the food is so yummy. I usually get the cold noodles, kimchi soup and seafood waffle. The cold noodles are refreshing and are flavourful, and the kimchi soup lives up to the name, it carries much depth from the kimchi. Definitely also suggest trying out the drinks they serve!! The staff were really assistive when it came to recommendations, ordering and overall provided good service. Cannot wait for my next visit!
Great casual place for Korean food. Came here looking for a vegan option, unfortunately they didn’t have anything, but they were kind enough to make something vegan on the spot, which tasted great. Buckwheat noodles was nice and chewy QQ, and the vinegar and pickled daikon balanced the spicy sauce well. I loved it! My friend got the kimchi stew, which was quite spicy for him may be worth asking if you can adjust spice based on your tolerance, but still enjoyed it. I would definitely come back because the food is good and service is amazing!
I enjoyed their creative take on traditional Korean dishes - the scallion oil on the pork belly and gochujang bulgogi in the tacos. I’ll be back to try their seafood waffle since they were sold out this time. It’s a small but cozy space.
Went with a friend and we thought this place was quite affordable. We spent about $22-23 each and were full after sharing everything. Got the seafood waffle clever!, tacos $2.50 each, and the tofu kimchi stew which was really yummy and came with purple steamed rice. Lastly we decided to buy dessert as well which was a yuzu sorbet that came as a cute little chicken/snowman. Left with very happy bellies. Vegetarian options: Tofu stew
Delicious food here! It's more than what I would consider a regular "cafe" We ordered basically one of each from the menu except the cheese sandwich. Authentic tofu kimchi soup because it is more on the sour / fermented side. Cold noodles were yummy! I didn't get a chance to eat the kalbi jimm but my fam loved how tender the meat was and presentation was mouth-watering on point. For dessert we ordered 4 hotteok - nice crispy outer paired with the glutinous center is a match made in heaven . It's nice to know we finally have a place for hotteok that is close to home. Highly recommend!! Support small and mighty on flavour! Nice people too!
So many people came here for dinner! This space used to be a bubble tea place but it didn’t run well and Covid hit the food industry hard. After the bubble tea place got shut down, Oiso Kimchi Cafe took over. I hope the business will run well. I personally like Korean food, so I hope the local people also like it and support the business. My husband and I ordered a kimchi stew with beef brisket and kimchi Makooksoo noodles. The server or owner who took our order highly recommended the kimchi stew with beef brisket. We loved it! It came with rice. We had to order before seated. After seated, the server brought us water, cups and cutleries. There was not too much decors or interior design, but the ambience was quite nice and comfortable. Simplicity and cleanness was the best. The interesting thing was that we usually got side dishes from all the Korean restaurants that we had been to but this one did not offer any side dishes. The restaurant is right on Kingsway. I don’t think they have a rear parking lot but there is free street parking. I would like to come back and try other dishes. Their menu is not big. They focus on what they are good at making. It’s good!
This isn't your typical restaurant vibe, but rather a restaurant/cafe dine in. Food was great. The cold buckwheat noodles could use less sesame seeds/oil but delicious. Sooyook was slightly expensive but understandable given the nature of inflation recently. The seafood waffle is basically seafood pancake but in a waffle shape, which we thought was an interesting twist. A new casual dining place that's worth visiting for the vibes.
