Went in to get a tire tube, asked for a 27.5 x 2.8 and a good one so I didn’t get got by the ‘goat heads’. Specifically asked for the best tube, he said we only sell good tubes. Walked out with a thin 2.0-2.2 tube, which I didn’t realize until I was 40mins out of town on a dirt road with a tube too small for my tire. I felt like they were treating me like I didn’t know anything and yes they did! Thanks guys, won’t stop here again.
Welcome the quick turnaround less than 24hours but very disappointed with service and cost for the work that was done. Collected bike and really struggled to get any form of summary of work, left, then came back in 20mins later to ask why sealant was leaking from both tires, the mechanic fairly aggressively/rudely IMO said that I had a puncture that he knew of in the front wheel but still changed to tubeless and charged for it and that he didn't change the valve stem in the rear because I hadn't asked him too..even though I had requested the rear tire be replaced... - mind blown. Did fix the rear on the spot and didn't charge for the valve stem, but would have expected significantly better treatment, service and reduced cost for the work that was done. Shame as I had up until then thought they were a good outfit, will go down the street to the other bike shop in the future. Update - front wheel that was trued is making a new sound that was never there previously + front valve stem leaks air. $220 for truing one wheel, poorly fitting tubeless setup, gear cable change and regrease BB.
Stopped in from out of town for some air in my bike tires. These guys were so friendly and helpful! They spent a lot of time fixing a valve problem and making sure I was all set for my ride. And they wouldn't let me pay them. Would happily go back and highly recommend them.
The service was simply awesome! We dropped in with a bike needing fixing and they got on it right away. In addition to fixing the issue, they also went over the bike to make sure everything else was in order. And they gave us plenty of tips on how to make the most of our time here on the Sunshine Coast. A big thanks to Gary and his team! And don’t hesitate to drop off at their shop if you need anything!
Service 11/10; Gary and Josh literally ambushed me coming through the door with tube and tire fix on a Saturday!!; Quick turnaround modest pricing good product knowledge and most of all old school SERVICE. I'll be back
We took our Schwinn trike and CCM bike to the shop for repair. The older guy, while being rude and loud told us there was nothing he could do as he had tried before and failed. He also said the other bike shop wouldn't do it either, how would he know? Anyway I guess I am not going for a bike ride with my special needs daughter.
Stopped by to ask a few questions about some local riding spots, ended up spending more than an hour picking Gary's brain about my bike ready for the BCBR. It's not very common these days to have a proprietor invest that kind of time in a walk-in client with no guarantee of our business. Gary is the consummate professional, offering his experience on a wide-range of topics from clipless systems to suspension to shoes. He has definitely earned our business anytime we are on The Coast!
Not going to write a long winded review, I rarely review but when I get five star service I think it deserves a shout out. I am not the most technically minded guy, so going through the decision making process and ultimately buying a relatively expensive piece of equipment can sometimes be a stressful experience... But not at Off the Edge Bike Shop! The two most important things customers get from Gary are patience, and down-to-earth frank and honest advice. The whole experience made me feel comfortable and confident.
Miles was absolutely amazing! I lost my B-tension screw out on the trails and I thought that was the end of my weekend of riding. Despite the fact that the hole had been totally rounded out, Miles took the time to source something that would work. He then recalibrated my gears for me and sent me on my way. All the staff where incredibly helpful and professional, cannot recommend them enough!
Great service and quick turnaround before a trip! I’ve been going to OTE for years and bought my first bike nearly 10 years ago from Gary. Ron and the guys in the shop were able to get the bike in for an emergency brake bleed before a trip that I was leaving for in two days. Cheers!
