I needed to take a train back into Toronto on the weekend. Seems quiet. I think regular weekdays will be a different experience. There are announcements that masks are still required. There are also shelters to protect commuters from the elements. Pretty useful. I used to ride from another GO station that didn't have shelters. Cold to say the least.
Call it coincidence, but the last THREE times I’ve tried taking a Union bound train from this station, there have been very serious logistical and communication blunders on behalf of Go Transit. First, they did not communicate a track closure ahead, and everyone was forced off at Clarkson to wait over an hour for a bus transfer. Second, I waited for a train which ended up cancelled and no announcement was made. Now today, the train was stated to arrive at platform 2, and ended up arriving to platform 3. Each of these incidents left a crowd of 50-100 angry people waiting for the next train. The only reasons I’m rating two stars instead of one is because the location is reasonably accessible and I like that the westbound track is located right next to the parking lot.
GO Transit is good when its good but AWFUL when its AWFUL. Missing trains causing delays, giving wrong information and then being stranded all as someone who has mobility issues and made staff aware from the beginning. Then when you go to customer support and email your feedback they basically tell me its MY FAULT that I got stranded after following the directions and taking the train/bus the employee advised. Needless to say it was a waste of money and then an absolute joke to be told it was my fault. That trip would have been rated negative stars if I had the chance
Family/Handicapped accessible bathroom was out of order but there was no sign posted, regular washrooms were absolutely disgusting and the hand dryers did not work/have enough force to actually dry your hands unless you want to stand there for 5 minutes..
If I could give it 1 star I would. My friend from out of town and I stopped in the Oakville Go Stn to use the washrooms as we were waiting for the local bus and had some time and the washrooms were ABYSMAL! The ladies room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. No toilet paper in the handicapped stall and the maxi pad container over flowing. It was disgusting. I wish I had thought to take pictures as I would have been more than happy to take a photo of the disgusting mess. To make matters worse there was not one attendant at the station. Those that needed tickets or to put $ on presto used the machines. I don't normally give negative reviews but this was absolutely disgusting! We are still in the middle of a pandemic so the lack of cleanliness disgusts me even more.
I visited Oakville Cardiologist for annual checkup. I used public transit and the bus stop is located on the north side of the property, very convenient. There was no excessive wait time. I was promptly scheduled for all my tests and met with my cardiologist in less than one hour. Very prompt, friendly staff and very professional.
Great small suburban train station. Well maintained. Convenient location. Easy access. Helpful staff.
They cancel trains, change tracks, delay, and reroute on a very regular basis, but do not communicate these changes except for some poor speakers early in the day and the computer screens which are only visible from one entrance. If you choose any of the other multiple entrances, especially after 6, you are playing Russian roulette hoping your train will arrive where it is supposed to. All the tracks are separated by an absurd length of maze so if you see your train is on the the way to the track next to your position, It is already far too late to try to catch it. Wouldn’t be such a problem if this was a rare occurrence, but it happens many times a day, all the time. There are some easy, inexpensive fixes the station could implement but they don’t.
Incredible town. Calm and very quiet in comparison with the rest of GTA
