Took very good care of us. Nice clean cabin, comfortable, and in a good area for activities. Bent over backwards to accommodate us and our friends the Harpers.

This review is targeted at folks who, like me, will make a decision based on the website pictures and recommendations. We stayed from July 1 – 8, 2017, and paid $700 for the week. I get why some people might like the resort, but I thought it was a craphole. We were in Chetek for a house party for my dad (who has lived there his whole life), and there were so many people at the house we needed a place nearby. My sister heard where we paid our $250 deposit, so she drove by and said, “Golly, the trailers look gross, are you sure?” The pictures on-line don’t look that way and their sign says “Modern, Ultra-Clean Cabins” so it seemed worth a risk. We got there and the cabins look nice from the outside, but the trailers are old, and packed like sardines smack dab in what can only be called an RV park. It’s not inviting at all. When we walked in I said, “Well, nothing is so bad that a little sunshine can’t make it better!” and I threw open the curtains on a broken window sealed up with tape. We later noticed a bullet hole in the same wall. I guess that’s what happens in an RV park, but that’s not what I signed up for. Some windows are the original louver-crank windows and they don’t work. Many windows had duct tape on them. On line they show only pictures that make it look like a resort. It is a resort … next to a sardine can filled with RV’s. The bathroom was carpeted. Gah! Double gah! The tub, toilet and sinks were all the same blue so, knowing old toilets have the date of manufacture stamped in the lid I checked: February 18, 1966. The tub was in such a poor state that water pooled at the side nearest the outside wall. I was in constant fear that it would just roll out of the trailer. Also, the first day I took a shower some young man came pounding on the door and said, uh, don’t use any of the plumbing until I give you the all clear. Apparently they had a septic issue. To say it had “A/C” is laughable; the window unit cooled about a four foot cone just in front of the unit. The furniture in the living room was not new by any means, but it is also not the same furniture in the pictures on line, so I can only imagine why they rotated these uncomfortable (and in the case of the chair, dangerously wobbly) pieces in there. The refrigerator has no shelves on the door, essentially making it a giant electric ice chest meaning you have to move everything to find anything. The knobs were in some cases missing, but in most cases were loose so that every time you used a cabinet door you had to ask yourself, should I re-tighten that knob? And “water view” is absolutely the most creative way to describe a view of trees that I have ever seen. Pretty trees, but not a water view. The owners weren’t very helpful. When we checked in, the owner (woman) didn’t explain where trash was supposed to go, where any of the resort features or amenities were, etc. I went to the office one time to find out how we could get down to the swimming dock. The owner (man) was in there talking about fishing to some guy so I waited patiently … for 15 minutes! I never went back to the office and my husband handled it from there on out. We never did find out how to get to the swimming. The owners were constantly whizzing around the place in golf carts so I know they were active, but they always seemed to be passing the cabins and trailers and going to RV clients. That’s absolute speculation. The cabins might be nice -- I don’t know. The RV parking spots seem fine, if that’s what you’re there for. I totally get that some people have been going there for years and love it. Good on them! But I can tell you that the “Bluegill” trailer we stayed in should have been called “Crappie” (Fishing joke!). I hate to run down a Chetek business because my dad lives there, but we won’t be back. Your mileage may vary.

Pretty rude on the phone. If you don't do a one night rental, don't be a snot about it.
