The Pictou Lobster Hatchery is a part of the Northumberland Fisheries Museum and is the only operational lobster hatchery in Canada that is accessible to the public. Come & visit to see Stage I - Stage IV lobster larvae - adopt your own baby lobster!

Great place to visit when in town. Great pictures available as well on the outside. Can climb up on the buoy and hit the bell... be prepared its load lol. Would visit again.

Great little museum and Canada's ONLY lobster hatchery run by volunteers. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into the place and they love doing it. Pay the $5 and "adopt" a lobster; very interesting for both kids & adults.

We learned SO much about lobsters at this museum. The lovely Ruby was so enthusiastic and informative. We are truly thankful for the information she provided us (including a relish place to eat!) Worth the stop.

Lots of interesting live lobsters (different colours) and lobster larvae here. Heard it's the only lobster hatchery opened to the public so it's a must see! Staff were friendly and informative. The adopt a lobster program ($5) is a must do here and they will give a certificate and send you and email of the lobster you adopted when they release it.
