This is a hidden gem. You enter and you instantly feel zen. There was a large table where you can sit on the floor, and this was perfect for our large group. Selection of tea was large, and the one we picked were traditional and delicious. The method to serve the tea allows to take our time. The atmosphere is so relaxed and calm. Loved it!
The service was good. It was a nice, calm place to go and relax. On the other hand, the matcha tea drinks I had was not good. It was just matcha tea powder whisks with hot water and that’s it. There was no sweetener added and the drinks was bland. It didn’t have any flavors to it.
Had a matcha tea tasting and learning experience...this place was absolutely wonderful. What a fantastic morning there! Really yummy snack assortment offered too...cookies, mochi and bread. Thank you Simon the owner was so kind too!Food: 5/5
A treasure here in Minneapolis. The tea is delicious and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The fresh milled matcha is divine and the mochi pairs well. You HAVE to try a gonfu tasting and stop by for one of their special events. This is a great place to relax alone or meet up for some chill time with friends.Food: 5/5
Such a calm, relaxing place to spend an hour or two catching up with a friend. The mochi was delightful. The first thing I said after we sat down was “I hope this place never closes!” I’ll be back soon.
Best yea house ever! The customer service is amazing and the staff is very knowledgeable. It’s a great place to relax and sit back. The snacks are so delicious, and I recommend the cheesecake. The experiences are fit to what you want, so any adventure goes. I think this place is not appreciated enough. It’s also a fun area to wonder inside while in the northeast.
Great selection of high quality tea from Japan to Taiwan A gorgeous space to have your tea and thoughtfully made pastries to go with their tea offerings. I wish this place was in Berkeley, CA where I’m from.
This place is so quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed the no laptop policy, which gave me an excuse to just sit and relax for a bit. The tea and snacks were good too. All around a great experience.
A favorite spot in the twin cities. The staff is knowledgeable and patient. Whether you are tea newbie or connoisseur, you will find something to enjoy here. I highly reccomend pairing your tea with a fresh mochi, it is soft and flavorful. My favorite thing to get is the tea flight to practice my tasting skills. I also love the extra consideration for the atmosphere by not allowing laptops or "work" tech. Phones and iPad for drawing is allowed still : Vegetarian options: the tea doesn't have milk so it's very vegetarian/vegan friendly
What a GREAT addition to Nordeast! We both ordered the House-Milled Matcha and it was OUTSTANDING! This is not a tea I would normally order and I am now hooked - it was light and delicious not sweet like you may assume if you know about matcha latte's. Additionally we ordered the mochi which is not made in-house the owner told us, but still good maybe an aspirational goal to have it made locally...?. The inside of Northeast Tea House is lovely, calming, relaxing, and aesthetically pleasing. The closest you may come to being in a spa right now ~ so lovely. Covid Notes: We had planned to get our tea to go as we have not sat inside a restaurant since pre-covid days, but we risk assessed and decided to stay. On their website they have clearly outlined their covid procedures, one of which is a special air cleaning system. With that in mind, the fact the door was open, and that there was only one other couple inside besides the owners, we had half the place to ourselves. In addition, the owners are wearing masks, all of us customers were wearing masks when not eating or drinking thank you other couple. Additionally, the owner was going above and beyond with cleaning surfaces which we haven't seen happening at other places that claim they have covid precautions in place, we really took note and appreciated that! We can not wait to go back. In post-covid times we see this as a regular hang out for our weekly disconnected fika.
