The people at this museum are so nice. We recently rented their trailer of tables and chairs for my daughter's wedding and they were so easy to work with.
What a gem of a local museum! So much history and such a tiny place. Excellent scavenger hunts available for children, very generous prizes. The volunteers were very friendly, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and answer any questions we had. An extensive treasure trove of historical memorabilia. Definitely worth a stop if you were driving through, far better than the Louis and Clark experience at the local state park. Also worth noting definitely worth a visit to the Nez Perce National Historic Site about 20 minutes from this museum.
Visitors to our county, as well as lifelong residents, will be glad they took the time to visit this gem. So much well-presented local history. Nice staff. Don’t miss the Idaho Territorial Capital Replica and the Heritage House with a well-tuned Steinway piano shipped around South America and a thriving rose bush carried over from Germany by pioneers.
Small, but awesome. A lovely, well maintained, little museum of local histories. They even have interactive things for kids. Like the old 1880's typewriter.
With a little amount of entry fee, this small museum provides a really good educational experience for the whole family. It is a nice place to spend time in Lewiston around 1 hour. In addition to the artifacts, the kids can also enjoy exploring the old typewriter or work on the big puzzle in the center.
I was greatly amazed at the amounts of historical information regarding Idaho. While there, author Dick Southern was having a book signing for 2 books he wrote "HALFWAY STAGE STOP" & "THE BIG SCHOOL ON A HILL". All proceeds donated to the museum. I purchased a set as a gift for a family member who is interested in the history of Idaho.
The ladies there were so tremendously helpful and nice. I took my children there on a Saturday, they answered a lot of our questions and made recommendations of other sites or museums to visit. They were knowledgeable with the area and were very patient. A must see!!!
The Museum has some very interesting artifacts, stories, and historical information about the lives and trials of those who called Lewiston home in the 1800s and 1900s. They did an excellent job of representing all the cultural influences, a rich diversity, that cultivated the town and surrounding areas.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
I enjoyed my visit very much. Met a couple of gentlemen there who provided a lot of additional history of Lewiston. Only disappointment was the outside buildings were not available to tour. I also got several pamphlets on area attractionsVisited onWeekday
