I have had the worst experience EVER with Netfirms. My clients website was shutdown and deleted with NO WARNING. The people at Netfirms support were completely useless.
it is the worst company for hosting due to followings 1. if they have access to your visa number, they withdraw money without being asked for 2. C_panel, and FileManager, and their Advanced tools are outdated, and most of them do not work. when you click on a link, the link is not connected to a functional/working location 3. it is full of malware. even if the site does not have malware, they infect it so you have to pay hundreds of dollars to them to remove the malware. the software is used is provided by sitelock.com: it is a money grab company 3.too hard to do anything thro FileManager, and C_panel. even for a simple back up, you have to go to few different pages to back up the site 4. THEIR TECH ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH TECHNICAL ISSUES. This happens specially after hours, where their support are out sourced to other countires, such as Philippines.
Horrible company, sub-par services for today's standard. Charges auto-renewal without warning customers that their domain is set to be auto renewed. They send an e-mail saying that the domain is going to be renewed if the domain is on auto-renew, but do not indicate whether the domain IS set to manual or auto-renew. Called the company and they told me tough cookies. They are taking my money, although I always set up domains as manual. Their systems are their systems, so they can just make up "proof". I have no intention of using the domain AND they care so little about their reputation, they prefer to take money for nothing in return. They also put my private information on public directories, and I was spammed non-stop and continue to get calls until this day. The web builder creates websites that cannot be indexed for search results in Google, and if you do try to amend the code, you will be denied. Stay away!
THIS WEB HOSTING COMPANY IS HORRIBLE!!! I joined Netfirms in 2008 and at that time the customer service was ok. It was recommended to me by my website designer. However over the years the wait times have gotten longer and the customer service gotten much worse. I have been hung up on and waited literally hours on the phone trying to sort out simple hosting and billing problems. As soon as you start to complain most of the representatives stop listening to you rather than doing the right thing and fixing the issue. I have recently learned that one of my website domains is hosted on a server that has alot of spam websites so my company emails get flagged for SPAM often. Its happened for years and I never knew the cause until my website person looked into this for me. So STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I also paid for Sitelock services recommended by Netfirms for years and wasted 1000's of dollars on a service that I didn't really need for all my business websites. Fortunately today after a manager hung up on me the first time I called I got a decent representative who refunded the charges that Netfirms had charged me even though I haven't hosted my sites on their servers for months and turned off automated billing on all my domains and hosting plans. Its been a huge ordeal to leave this company and I will be celebrating when I am finally rid of them. Its my hope that anyone reading this would think twice before purchasing a domain or hosting package with Netfirms. There's a few good people there but this company is rotten at the core.
Beware of 3-years hosting plans at Netfirms. After being with them for over 8 years, I switched the term of The Advantage Plus plan from 2-year to 3-years and got charged for the only domain I registered with them while the host plan entitles me for 2 free domains as per their website. When I contacted Customer Support I was told the following: "We offer two DomainGuard features with one and two years hosting plan. So, it is not possible to offer DomainGuard features with three years hosting plan." I will move my business elsewhere after my host term with this company expires.
I had been a customer since before 2011. Just this week I went through their customer service to change my service levels. Instead got a nice discount. Then logged into my account to manage a customer's website. Lo and behold my entire website had been transferred over to a new server with a current version of PHP. This totally broke the website that had been written in PHP 5.X. Now my customer's website is down and I have to spend my time updating the code to get it to work. Avoid Netfirms like the plague. The interface was changed and is incomplete. Total nightmare to have to relearn in a crisis. Customer service is off-shored to India.
I've used them for many years and was a bit concerned that they were lackluster about notifying me when my domain was up for renewal. However this last time, they did not contact me at all my contact info remains valid and my domain expired. When I tried to renew, it said that the domain was no longer available and the screen greyed out and froze. So long Netfirms.
Customer support is very slow, respond time to a ticket 10hour. If you want to install WordPress, try it your self, get error, contact support they will do it manually ?!?! Maximum file upload of 20Mb is laughable , and they will not increase it. If you plan to host any other website which is not static HTML, run. Worst admin panel in the industry, and I have seen them all.
I would give it a ZERO STAR if there was a choice on Google Maps for that. This is the WORST company one can ever deal with. I have used it for many years and as a token of appreciation to be a good customer this company scammed me for years. I have migrated ALL of my sites from this garbage place. The Worst place you would want to host your domain. The worst people to deal with. The Worst place to be. They used to have an office by 404 and Steeles or Woodbine, for those who live in Toronto or the GTA area. I do not recommend it.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! If I could give a review more negative than 1 star, I would. The practices of this so called business is more than appalling. After a year of trying to cancel an account all backed by a trail of emails, and cease all auto renewal, they internally re-enable it, hoping their blatant fraud goes unnoticed. My account was even due a refund of $24.00, and surprise surprise, once auto renewal is enabled by them the refund can not be given. Who knew that stealing was common practice for them? All this was no thanks to the multiple attempts to cancel with such reps as Tony F, Danny G, Arman B, Lorena V, and Ann. OVER A YEAR TO FINALLY CANCEL IT TODAY and I get the most insulting email to top off the unprofessional and disturbing practices of Netfirm. In their cancellation email, they try to cover their faults and email me that they are finally cancelling my account, not because I did so over a year ago, but because they insultingly lie that my account was past due. APPALLING AND BLATANT FRAUD.
