In the early 1970’s the Bell’s Corner’s Arts League ( now the Nepean Fine Arts League ) requested studio space and the former City of Nepean responded by offering the basement of the Pioneer Building at 1683 Merivale Rd. “5 Below” opened its doors in 1972 to 30 eager art students.
Ten years later in 1982, the NVAC continued to increase its use, offering 113 programs to 1258 participants in total. In 1988 after a renovation to offices in the Nepean Sportsplex the Nepean Visual Arts Centre relocated to its current home in a purpose-built art centre with proper studio spaces and arts equipment. Forty years after its inception the Nepean Visual Arts Centre is still going strong with an annual participation of 2400 students and boasts the largest public pottery facility in the region with 800 users annually and an approximate 52,000 pieces being created each year !
Learn in a relaxed and creative studio setting. The Nepean Visual Arts Centre focuses on fine arts, pottery and specialised workshops. The NVAC offers programs at the Nepean Sportsplex and its satellite location, the Nepean Creative Arts Centre in Bells Corners.
