Our neighbourhood diner has finally opened! It is a great place for a meal out for those in the area. We celebrated the new year by a short walk, then gathering in a comfortable red booth overlooking the goings-on. A vintage refrigerator, decor and as well as with the silver diner walls behind the counter with stools has that '50's look. The service was fast, friendly, the food was tasty, well presented, and reasonably priced. Lourdes, our waitress, was helpful in a dietary request. We ordered an egg salad sandwich, a tuna sandwich, as well as a 'NDG burger' with secret sauce [ which is very good!] and the popular' JJ breakfast plate' accompanied with good coffee. It is indeed a fine diner and a very welcome addition to NDG.
First time trying it and I can't believe I found such a gem! This one of a kind in the area restaurant, is the best in NDG! I can't believe how authentic and fresh the smoked salmon was! Although it is small it's a perfect cozy spot for a Sunday family brunch! Can't wait to come back soon ! Vegetarian options: Bagel, potatoes, eggs Kid-friendliness: Small portions with child friendly seating Wheelchair accessibility: First floor Dietary restrictions: Non pork options
Had to go back to this here a few times to make sure, but now I know: protect this place at all costs. First things first, some housekeeping. Is it cash only? Yes. Is that an issue? For me normally it is, but for some reason at this particular joint, I rather they keep applying that 3%-5% hit to their ingrediants rather than yeeting it over to Visa/Mastercard. If the food was trash I would be less forgiving. Secondly, the speed: patience is required, but would I rather they pre-fry a bunch of bacon, pile it up on their flat top and reheat it gently for our pleasure? No, not really. Lastly, the menu language. It's bilingual, just flip it over. Now onto the fun stuff: The breakfast sandwich makes a pilgrimage to eggslut a redundant waste of time. A thing of true beauty, it will fill you up despite its cute appearance and is savory as all hell without being a grease bomb. Amazing balance. The full english breakfast is served with tomato and beans which I often hate, but for some reason they're both the standout stars here. A plate packed full of joy. The cheeseburger doesn't reinvent the wheel: smashed, toasted and melted in all the right places. This is hard to mess up but for some reason so many other places on the island of Montreal manage to. Not here. Makes a pilgrimage to Shake Shack a redundant waste of time. I'm starting to sense a pattern. The hot dog is a dense mofo, and like many things here, will fill your belly more than your eyes so don't be fooled. Served with potato chips, it's a perfect fast lunch. Same goes for all the deli sandwich classics egg salad, tuna. Forget how you picture those from your childhood. Order them here and taste how they should have the whole time. Lastly the service: every time I'm here, even with my kids bouncing off the walls, the service is warm, accomodating, and attentive. Refills abound and she will check in with you on the regular. Some other reviews indicate differently, but those must have been growing pains. Service is absolutely top notch. I sincerely hope to be able to shuffle over to a booth at this place when I'm old and grey in the year 2055.
Love it - generous portions, authentic retro style, pleasant service. Cash only. GO! Kid-friendliness: Family friendly
Breakfast Sandy is up there with the top breakfast sandwiches in Montreal. The house potatoes are also mind blowing. Cozy restaurant, friendly service. I’ll be back for sure.
Cute new place on the corner! I'm happy to have a local breakfast spot just a few steps from my front door in my neighborhood. I had the bagel lox with house smoked salmon and it was very tasty with a fresh soft bagel could have used more dill. The location just opened in the past two weeks and it is cute, but a bit too fresh and new and shiny. It needs to be around a bit longer to really achieve that local diner vibe. People should go eat there to help break it in! :
The full breakfast was divine. Beautiful thick bacon, homemade beans, a real grilled sausage, creamy scrambled eggs with chives, homemade cubed potatoes and toasted rye bread. The coffee is served in a variety of random cups, very cute. The portion was generous, and the service was casual and charming. It's a small space. If you're a group of 5 or more be prepared to be spread out, some at the booths others at the counter. A great addition to the hood ! Parking: Street parking, no meters
Hiding Gem, the last place I ever expected to have a fast food diner. For years it was a vacant hole in the wall. Glad they made something out of it.Food: 5/5
This place is so cute, and the food is great! Love the TLB sandwich!
