Good food, good company. A great place for music and meeting people.
it is the place to go for music lovers, amazing atmosphere, and very friendly people.
I can't review the food: I didn't get a chance to eat it. But I can review the service. My musician boyfriend made a reservation to see a friend of his play there. The person who took the reservation also knows my boyfriend. We arrived on time to a packed house and were told, in a very off-hand manner, that it was a busy night and that they didn't hold our reservation. They said they'd make room for us, did so, and then another employee promptly gave the seats to someone else. We were highly annoyed and completely unimpressed with the poor service and lack of concern or apologies. I doubt we'll ever go back. Too bad. I was looking forward to the food and the music.
My daughter just counted nine guitars on the walls... friendly, musical and cozy on a winter day.
Intimate setting for a great live performance!Food: 5/5
This small but wonderful live music venue has been forced outside due to covid parameters. Please check their website for upcoming outdoor events and help keep Mariposa rocking. Musicians wanting to perform live should contact mgmt.
We walked to Mariposa only to be told by the owner that we had to reserve by phone ! We saw 6 empty tables at 17:45. Why did he forget to say it on the FB event poster ? I guess we went there twice - for those who know that line …
Went there for brunch with family and friends after speaking with the owner on the phone. He told us kids under 10 eat free. We got there for 10:20am. By about 10:40 waitress came to ask our order. We asked a few questions about the menu to which she knew none of the answers. After ordering we got coffee about 25 mins later and the food came by 11:45. The food was nothing to cheer about in fact we didnt eat most of it. To top it all when it was time to pay they were charging us for the kids toddlers, 17$ for each kid who had one egg and half a sausage. Never going back and would never recommend it.
You never know who you will bump into at Mariposa, but I guarantee they will be nice and probably in some creative field. Oozing with charm and the occasional Tom Waits vinyl playing in the background. Great place to meet friendly people, the owner being the friendliest!
If you feel like visiting an old friend then the Mariposa Cafe is for you. It feels like your BF basement. Warm, inviting, and totally relaxed, its the perfect place to have a healthy meal, listen to live music, poetry, or find artwork. .. a wonderful spot with a beatnik vibe... and for this card carrying carnivore, a surprisingly delicious vegie burger... highly recommended
